Nope. Living now in the *gasp* suburbs of Dublin.
Still have my room at home though when I go back for the odd weekend, which is nice.

Really? Whereabouts.

Clonsilla - more out of necessity than choice.

That fact that I have absolutely nothing to say about Clonsilla underlines what I think of the place (I had an Uncle who lived there for a while though so I'm not ignorant), not that where I live is much better in that regard.

Smiley Yeah, there's really not a lot that commends the area to me. The house I'm in is fine though and its a short walk to the train station. I just wish that amenities were closer.

Yes, and I plan to as long as I can. I plan on working through college in around 6 years and to take frequent gaps to travel or work full time, and it just wouldn't make any sense at all to A. go to a college away from home for those stretches and spend the room/board money or B. move out on my own and waste money on rent. And my parents don't particularly bug me about anything.

Nope.

I lived 1760 miles away from them.

It all depends. When they lived with you, did you give up your bedroom for the basement? If not, than no. Sorry.

Ditto.  My father lived with me for 22 years,  He actually lived with me longer than my parents were married (and that ended when my mother died).

In today terms, if I was a college kid or recently graduated, I would choose to live at home if it was near my office and I was single.  Why waste money unnecessarily and increase your debt when a few more years at home can help you build up a decent savings as well as a downpayment on a home later on?

Actually I saw a 2002 statistic that 53% of college graduates move back home to live with their parents for the exact same reasons that you state. As long as they have a job and are paying for food, phone, electricity, etc, I got no issue if my child did that.

Yes I do. I'll probably move out when I get a job after university. It is just too convenient right now.

Because your parents live in a crappy place you don't want to?

If it wasn't for that, I might agree. As I said though, I probably will move in with my parents right after graduating, but only very briefly.

Well, that settles it, since a random guy on the internet I don't know called me a loser, I'm going to go move out right now.

It's become more socially acceptable to live with your parents. Most people won't blame you considering how much money you'd save. Of course I'd absolutely hate to be under my parents' authority again, I don't want them knowing about whenever I go to the strip clubs (assuming my parents lived in an area with lots of strip clubs, which they don't)

Almost every 18 year old I know lives with their parents (in the real world at least: most live in college dorms for most of the year).

no.

but i honestly dont get what is so bad about living with parents.

as others have pointed out, you can save a lot of money this way.  and if you get along with your parents and they rtreat you as an adult, what is the problem?

that seems better to me than moving in with roommates that you may not know well and doing things like putting names on the food in the 'fridge.
