That McCain's the best candidate here is not surprising at all. (That Thompson's not strong here isn't either - though it would have been ten years ago.) The extent is, somewhat, though.

McCain could beat Clinton if he made a come back. Personally I have a lot more respect for him than Clinton so I can't say I would really care.

Thompson really comes across as a heartless jerk in Law and Order. His appearances in that show have done him no favors in this campaign. I can't believe he allows the writers and directors of that show to get away with it.
