I never thought I'd say this - but I was watching some of Ron Paul Girl's videos and I looked up Ron Paul - 1st off, I love both of their personalities, but Paul isn't THAT bad politically - I'd never vote for him for the Primary, but I could vote for him over a Democrat.

I like Ron Paul as well.  I actually did some research and was really suprised that he actually wants to keep Social Security intact. I thought libertarians wanted to get rid of all government programs?

Never, on economic policy.

Also, I really like that people seem to be basing their support or non-support of Paul on personality. Way to be an informed electorate, guys.

He does, however he recognizes any serious cuts are impossible at this point in time because of the entitlement culture. So his actual solution is to cut back most military funding and re-direct it towards most of our current programs. Phasing them out will come later.

Interview summing up his overall position:

Me too - that's the thing - I just never knew all of what he stood for - I mean, I always knew he was pro-life, so if it were him vs. one of the current Dems., I'd have always voted for him - but I agree with a decent amount of what he does.

Where does Ron Paul stand on campaign finance? I can't imagine he's happy with the current system.

Probably for the same reason that you hate freedom. Grin

He's a crazy pro-life homophobic maniac who wants poor people to die from the capitalist health care system while the rich invest in diamond-studded swimming pools.

I cannot help but dislike Paul because of his strong support among racists, neo-nazis, and white nationalists.

You're acting like Paul poses a threat in any way. If he did somehow win the GOP nomination, it'd be excellent: A Democratic victory would already be locked up in the bag.

I actually made a post about her - and credit her with my now-improved opinion of Ron Paul: http://inkslwc.wordpress.com/2007/11/03/ron-paul-girl-liv-my-libertarian-female-twin/

It's quite obvious most of his supporters are Stormfront poster coughcough and white nationalists and/or Nazis.

That's why I wouldn't vote for him, and top of that he's insane of numerous economic issues.

I can understand disagreeing with his economic policies as they are a bit unusual to many people.  I don't understand why you think it's obvious most of his supporters are racists asshats.  Unless you don't know what the words "obvious" and/or "most" means.  Maybe you meant "It's quite obvious SOME of his supporters are..."?  I'd agree with that.  Some of them are.  And some of Clinton's supporters are sexist.  And some of Rudy's supporters are racists.  And some of Obama's supporters are racists.  And most of the supporters of most the of the candidates are authoritarianists, which, in my opinion, is worse.  Racism is nearly dead in this country (even if we are having a little backlash in the last month or so), Authoritarianism is alive and well, in control, and slowly taking our freedoms.

The Ron Paul obsession has carried over to Canada, Macleans had a random article on him. Hopefully the media obsession with him will stop soon.

I agree.

To paraphrase a saying "If people like that want to get on the bandwagon, I'll get off".

Not that I ever supported Paul in the first place, but that's how most people would treat it.
