I think what Colbert has done is to be commended. He has basically educated his viewers about the democratic process. i.e. what a candidate has to do to gain ballot access, and FEC laws about spending and all that. He has done a better job at this than anyone could, using comedy. It allows his demographic to become more engaged with the democratic process. Hopefully Colbert runs as an independent, as it will be another educational experience for us viewers.

We do not need a pompous stand up comic, and a poor one at that, wasting everybody's time with this ludicrous exercise in futility.

Colbert isn't a stand-up comic.

Good for the Democrats!  Bravo!  Hooray!

I trust the Republicans will be as sensible as the Democrats in this matter and follow suit.

We do not need a pompous stand up comic, and a poor one at that, wasting everybody's time with this ludicrous exercise in futility.

Why? Romney was wasting more of our time than Colbert was with his very own ludicrous exercise in futility. Wink

Good for them!!!  I do not like Colbert one bit.  I don't like the way he makes fun of my President and never makes fun of any Democrats.  I never watch his show on purpose.  I was only forced to watch that creep while in Boston and he ticked me off so much I had to leave the room.

I am a Democrat, but I do not like ANYBODY making fun of my President, and especially only attacks one side.

Jay Leno, in my mind, is different.  At least he makes fun of both sides and, in my mind, is not intended to make anybody look bad.  Plus, I am used to Jay Leno as he took over for the man I grew up watching, Johnny Carson.
Why are you a Democrat, if you like a terrible, super-conservative president so much?

This will hurt Dems - at least it'll isolate them some from young voters.

Am I the only one who has noticed the relationship between BushOklahoma's surge in recent posts and Naso's sudden disapperance from the forum?

I don't know what the correlation would be, I just have more time on my hands.

And he was only running in one presidential primary, not the general.

It seems that the SC Democratic Executive was pressured by Barack Obama's supporters.  They were probably worried that Colbert's bid would steal votes from their own insincere candidate whose campaign isn't meant to be taken seriously.

I like the way Colbert used his disappointment at being rejected to explain in character why his show will be going into hiatus for the writers' strike.
