In 2008, gay Senator (although he will not admit to it) Larry Craig of Idaho is the Republican Presidential nominee and gay former Governor Jim McGreevy (at least he admits to it) of New Jersey is the Democratic Presidential nominee.

There are no independent or third party candidates.

How does this election turn out?

Please discuss.

McGreevy, he didn't do anything illegal and is not nearly as hipocrtical as Craig.

The Democratic base would probably turn out for McGreevy.  The notion that the Republican base would get within 10 blocks of a voting booth for Larry Craig makes me shriek with laughter.  Yeah, lets see Tony Perkins, Pat Robertson and James Dobson do their pimp routine for that fool.

Fundies stay home/vote third party. Democrats have no problem voting for McGreevy. McGreevy wins.

Winfield may I ask, what is your infatuation with scenarios involving homosexuals in the 2008 Presidential Election? It's the second one, I'm quite sure you've done in 72 hours. For the purpose of the scenario, I would say former Governor of New Jersey Jim McGreevy wins over former Senator Larry Craig in a lowturn out.

McGreevy wins because  he's not as much of a hypocrite. A certain portion of the GOP base will be willingly credulous enough to vote for Craig, but quite a few stay home. Turnout is very low howevere.

Rockefeller Republican, I would not exactly describe these scenarios as an "infatuation," but rather as a point of discussion to determine how forum members believe gay candidates would fare in a Presidential election, in various types of scenarios.

I have posted another one this evening, and my last for the forseeable future involving Craig and McGreevy, with a scenario involving Craig vs McGreevy vs Dobbs.

Fair statement. A good one at that too.

Was this a running bet to see how long McGreevey's name could be misspelled?

Uh Yeah, cause trying to get a bj in an airport bathroom is so much more horrible than hiring your lover to oversee homeland security for your state.  McGreevey didn't leave office because of his sexual orientation, he was forced to resign because of his incompetent/illegal/unethical actions as Governor.

If these are the only choices, Craig wins.

Except McGreevey supporters continue to see nothing wrong with what McGreevey did.  Thus, McGreevey wins anyway.

McGrovey is a hipocite too, lolz

I think we've finally found a combination where "None of the Above" wins Nevada's electoral votes.

Except under Nevada law, when "None of the Above" wins, second place takes the electors or elective office.  Which is why it is stupid.
