In 2008, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton wins the Democratic Presidential Nomination after easily encountering for Senator Barack Obama and former Senator John Edwards. Senator Obama's momentum started to fall soon after his disappointing 3rd place in the Iowa Caucus, behind Clinton and Edwards. Senator Obama dropped out after disappointing results in Super Tuesday, likewise with Edwards.

In July, a month before the Democratic National Convention, Senator Clinton announces former Governor of Indiana and incumbent Senator Evan Bayh is her running mate. The decision is well received by many. In August, Senator Clinton and Senator Bayh are nominated at the Democratic National Convention at the Pepsi Centre in Denver, Colorado.

Whilst on the Republican side, former Governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney wins the Republican Presidential Nomination. Romney had been unstoppable since his victories in the first four primaries, (Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina). However late in the campaign we was challenged by former Governor of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee who managed to win a few primaries in the deep south and in the plains states.

Like Senator Clinton, Romney announces who will be his running mate a month before the Republican National Convention. Former Governor Romney selects former Governor of Arkansas Mike Huckabee. Like the selection of Bayh by Clinton the ticket of Romney/Huckabee is well received.

Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee are nominated for the Presidency and Vice Presidency respectively at the 2008 Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota.

The first weeks of the campaign are the closest of them all with polls virtually showing a tie between Clinton and Romney. However with three weeks to go, Senator Clinton builds up momentum and turns a four point lead in the polls over Romney to 6 points. On Election Night, Hillary Clinton is elected 44th President of the United States by a semi-landslide. The Electoral College map looked like this:

Hillary R. Clinton/B. Evan Bayh (D): 347 EV, 53.5%
W. Mitt Romney/Mike Huckabee (R): 191 EV, 46.5%
Others (Libertarian, Unity ect): 0 EV, 1.0%

On January 20, 2009, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton is sworn in as 44th President of the United States and becomes the first female Commander-In-Chief. Her first term is seen as a successful one, as she is able to successfully withdraw every American solider in Iraq by 2011 and puts in place a Universal Health Care bill, which would see the Health system drastically reformed by 2017. Clinton also signs the Kyoto Protocol, thus leaving no country on Earth having not signed it. In 2007, Kevin Rudd was elected Prime Minister of Australia, after the ALP managed to gain 16 seats.

By the time 2012 Presidential primaries comes around, President Clinton is enjoying successful ratings in the polls and peace and prosperity at home and abroad. President Clinton suffers no challenges for the Democratic Nomination, except from Lyndon LaRouche who is barely able to get more than 1,000 votes. At the Democratic National Convention in New York City, President Clinton and Vice President Bayh are easily re-nominated.

Whilst on the Republican side, 2008 Vice Presidential nominee Mike Huckabee is able to win the 2012 Republican Nomination. He suffered no major challenges except from former Governor of Minnesota Tim Pawlenty. At the Republican National Convention in Dallas, Huckabee is nominated on the first ballot. For Vice President, Huckabee selects Congressman Mike Pence of Indiana.

How would this scenario turn out? Would Clinton be re-elected over Mike Huckabee? Discuss with maps.

I think Hillary would be reelected.  Her first term seems successfull, and, barring no major scandals or gaffes, she should have an easy time being reelected.

Hillary Clinton/Evan Bayh: 56.8% PV, 359 EV
Mike Huckabee/Mike Pence: 43.2% PV, 179 EV

If she does all that you predict she will in her first term, she will be a shoo-in for re-election no matter who the Republicans nominate, and the election could be a landslide of FDR/Landon proportions.
I doubt it will happen like that, though.
