I have a very positive opinion on American ideals and the official government structure.  I hate some other things, such as complacence and most people in federal office today.  Overall I would say neutral.

Negative. It'd take alot to make it be positive and even more to make it a place where I'd feel patriotic about.

Overall positive, though I'm not a huge fan of some of her recent choices.

To be honest, increasingly negative. I don't like what this country is turning into. It seems like the ideals and institutions that made this country great are now almost dead. The worst thing is, it's largely the fault of the American public for being so incredibly lazy and ignorant.

Neutral to negative.

There are some very serious issues that need to be addressed that simply aren't including our ability to compete in the world as we allow our means to produce to age and crumble at the same time our roads and rails crumble.

Our schools are stagnating, and people are not optimistic, because there's little to be optimistic about.

We have built our country and our economy on oil, and now that oil supply is stagnating and the price is rising, we are increasingly building and defending "America" on a credit card.

We are not innovating because we have people that seem to think that the America of 1955 can continue well into the future.

Moving forward will happen in a service economy where people become increasingly sedentary and dependent on their car when they have two feet and a heart beat.

I look around, and the people I see are overweight and miserable.  The ones that are "happy" are probably getting their happiness in the form of a pill.

Profoundly negative.  The part that gets me is not that it is a prison-house or slave-camp - most places are that.  What bothers me is the complete inability of most of the people to understand what is happening to them.

This gives me an idea for a thread!

I like the system of government and economics. Would prefer a more generous welfare state. Utterly abhor the transportation systems. People are hard to classify obviously, but tend more towards being sheep than not. Politicians aren't much less preferable than anywhere else.

Overall lean positive when viewed on a global scale. Quality of life isn't as high as Scandinavia or Western Europe, but take a trip to see the third world where things like public cleanliness/safety and social security don't really exist.

*facepalm* No. The problem is entirely due to protestantism not working as a social base beyond certain economic/technological levels. Think how Islam made socieites stagnate at an age of exploration level, protestantism makes them stall at an early 20th century level. If we can survive the next decade or two without imploding or turning into JESUS INCORPORATED we'll have a chance to fix things(protestants are declining as a portion of the population).

Some have suggested that to me. I love America and if I leave it wouldn't be because I am leaving America, it would be because America left me.

Well said! This nation has alot of potential but it's leadership as is is criminal and both parties cater to either retarded(democrats) or evil(GOP) demographic groups/sectors of the electorate.

That's what people do in Nebraska when they graduate high school. It's a big problem for our state.

Neutral. Could be positive when it elects an intelligent, non warmongering President.

Broadly positive, but then I think that of most places. I happen to have a negative view of the current Government in the U.S, but I don't think that matters much.

Neutral.

Until we have a gay, black, atheist president, our country will never be truly the land of the free.

Despite my numerous complaints, there is no place I'd rather live than right here in the USA.
