Please don't be frustrated with politicians of either party, gentlemen - they are serving those they actually represent perfectly. That just isn't any of you. Blame the capitalist system, not the cogs.
As for 'renewable energy', it is a lovely fairy tale, but the future, should the oil run out, is something more like a return to the 19th century (everything coal-fired, lower standard of living), than anything bright, shiny, and new.
Ever heard of nuclear power?
Sure, buddy. Whats the difference? One type of big stationary plant providing electricity only, or another. Oh yeah, nuclear power costs more.
But my point stands - without cheap oil we're in shabby shape - no motoring about, no jet travel, lose a huge percentage of products, much of our infrastructure and housing become useless, and we even produce far less food...
Only if we let the state take over for the evil "capitalist system". You think Bill Gates's grand kids are going to drive around in the 2035 version of a Stanley Steamer while the rest of us stack piles of dirt a la Quest for the Holy Grail (help help I'm being repressed! Come see the violence inherent in the system!) if they can help it?
If who can help it? Bill Gate's kids? Christ man, its fine to be driving the Stanley Steamer, as long as everyone else is stacking feces for you. Relative power is the thing. Anyway, even if oil 'runs out' in the mass sense, the rich will have enough for playing with ferraris and what not.
