"Multiple sources in Western New York politics have confirmed that there is a strong possibility that" Rep. Tom Reynolds (R–NY) "will not run for a sixth term next year," according to The Capitol.

"Rumors of a potential Reynolds departure... have been flying around political circles in Buffalo and Niagara Falls for months, though Reynolds spokesman L.D. Platt denies the rumors and says the congressman will run again."

CQ has a good backgrounder on the district which is Republican Favored. The Albany Project has more information on the rumors.

If Tom Cole can't convince Tom Reynolds, the ambitious former chair of the NRCC, to run for reelection, how can he possibly hope to stem the tide of retirements?

No! It won't come to the point where any Republican House Member runs for reelection! Not even over my dead body!

I think Jean Schmidt and John Doolittle are guaranteed to keep soldiering on.
