Knights and dames, solo. Knights and dames.

Oh and doubling the deficit, giving up billions in revenue from an effective climate measure, turning the G20 into a giant pity party, achieved the worst polling for the first year of a new Government and a first-term PM in the modern era, gutted support for groups that advocate for homelessness and childhood cancer... be fair solo.

As the saying goes... "never believe something until it's been officially denied"

My favourite quote from the unnamed MP

Australia stopped handing out Knight and Damehoods nearly 30 years ago... Abbott re-introduced them.

Ah, I assumed it was a idiomatic expression that we don't have over here.

are they really reviving the debate over industrial relations? Seeing as it completely sunk a pretty competent Liberal leader, I don't see why Abbott thinks he can do any better...?

This Government has utterly lost the plot. You have to wonder, with all these self-inflicted wounds, if they actually want to win.

No, but they have reached their goal, changing the country. They know ALP is too cowardly to go back on those changes.

That's the thing ... they haven't really been to do anything. I think the ALP will be a lot more aggressive in undoing whatever they do manage to get done.

The problem with Labor is more when it has a mandate than when it is in opposition.  When they take over from Tony, they will have no problem gutting the very small things he has actually managed to do.

lol the country is in no way different to what it was in 2013. The ALP has already promised to bring back a carbon tax, scrap changes to welfare and have basically promised to end off shore processing.

Well, I heard their hard-right rhetoric, so I assumed the actions went into that direction.

They haven't gotten all that much done though since they don't control the Upper House.

Poll on the fairfax websited with over 25,000 votes has a 92% negative reaction to the announcement.

Admittedly, the readership skews left, but still... I think this might be the 'jumped the shark' moment.

The issue is the Prince Philip or the former defense guy?

Also, Happy Australia Day, mates!
