I cannot confirm the truth to this, but I just heard a rumor that Fred Thompson will be dropping out next week to endorse McCain. Again, this is just a rumor I heard. What do you think?

I hope not. IMHO, McCain's the best Republican candidate out there (other than Paul), but he's the only Republican who can win.

I doubt it.  I don't see why he would endorse McCain, he is probably going to go for Huckabee if anyone.  I still see him staying in at least until Super Tuesday, and then dropping out.

Well, you forget that McCain and Thompson are supposed to be good friends.

I heard a rumor that Larry Craig is 100% heterosexual and that he was set up by a liberal cop.

If I may ask, where did you hear this Thompson rumor?

Good for McCain if it happens. He's my favorite of the first-tier Republican candidates.

Doesn't surprise me Fred is dropping out.

If I were Thompson I would drop out as well.  I don't think he took it seriously enough and people picked up on that pretty fast.  I think he'd be much better off dropping out and endorsing McCain.  Also, McCain needs a boost right now in order to get back into the thick of things.  Right now he's in Richardson territory on the Republican side.

i could see this happening. thompson peaked before he entered the race, and when he finally did, he turned in a mediocre performance in his first debate. i dont think he really wants it .. it just seems like he jumped in because people liked him. since then, huckabee has become the darling of the conservatives.

It'd be good for him - I don't see it though.  If he's been planning this, why not tell Right to Life not to endorse him?

SPC where have you heard this?

I think Thompson will at least try to stick it out until Iowa.
