Post maps

Obama wins based off of Liberitarian-esque voters and Latte Liberals turning out big for him, in the West and Midwest.

Colorado and Nevada would not be nearly so close; Huckabee offers them nothing while Obama is their favorite Democrat. Arizona might even vote Democratic. On the other hand, Ohio might very well vote for Huckabee over Obama.

This is a terrible Republican ticket for the Northeast Corridor (Portland-Manassas). The only place it would improve on Bush 2004 are in places like Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee where there are still a decent number of white middle class Democrats. Many of these would be hesitant to vote for Obama.

The Dems would make big gains in the Midwest and Far West.

Brownback is an awful choice for Huckabee.  He brings nothing to the ticket, and scares off moderates who might have considered voting for Huckabee.

Obama wins 325-213.

I normally say that VP picks in these fantasy match-ups don't add any value, but Biden is a heavy-weight force.  In a near tie between Obama and Huckabee, Biden would tip the scales.

The thing is that Brownback brings what Huckabee already has, conservative Christian credentials.

Ugh. Huckabee could beat Obama, but Brownback holds him back, costing him precious votes in Iowa, Ohio, Florida, and much of the west. Biden puts Obama over the top.

It's all personal impressions at this stage, so no one is really right or wrong.

True statement. I just have a gut feeling, that if this was the match up in the 2008 Presidential Election that Huckabee would win Ohio very narrowly against Obama, likewise with Obama winning Florida. It's not based on polls, it's my gut instinct.

I'm pretty sure this is the most accurate map. Joe Biden is massively more impressive than Sam Brownback. Can you imagine the VP debate? Biden would eat him alive and thus put Obama over in states like Florida and the Libertarian-leaning West where he is already popular. Biden tips the scales in Obama's favor no matter how you look at it.
