Probably either Clark or Vilsack, since Democrats are not putting any seats at risk with them.

"Kathy" Sebelius?

Manchin, Strickland, Bayh, maybe Sebelius. Mark Warner shouldn't on the poll; he's running for Senate.

Ugh- more governors. I vote Richardson, but mainly for the diplomatic and Energy experience- and well, just the impressive breadth of jobs- not becuase he is NM governor. Even for Obama he'd be good. I don't care if he does make the ticket more diverse.

Clark still needs to prove he's not a nut or flash in the pan. Bayh is an okay choice if for nothing else, he'd be ideal to smile and simply nod his head for 4-8 years. I's hope he'd help take Indiana, but I'm not convinced.

Richardson, to secure NM, because of his experience, and because the Democrats don't lose anything.

Warner seems to be a rising star, and a competent governor in a mildly red state. I could see him taking the party far in future election years on the top of the tiket, so being at the bottom will at least put him in the national eye. Pity he's going into the senate, his credentials as a governor are only going to be forced down. For instance Bayh was much more appealing as a governor then he is now.

Yeah, his run for senate has perplexed me. Were I Warner, I probably would have just endorsed and accepted the #2 slot to Hillary Clinton, and, if re-elected, made a run for the Presidency in 2016. His decision to run for senate kinda makes me believe he doesn't really want to be President.

How many terms can he last in the senate untill he becomes vulnerable for re-election, assuming the Republicans don't stay in the dumps? I mean, he was a sucessful governor, but with two Democratic senators Virginia is not exactly reppresented properly.

The fact that Virginia has two Democratic Senators is irrelevant. For example, North Dakota and Arkansas both are "red" states that have two Democratic Senators (the former's lone representative is also a Democrat). Likewise, Maine has two Republican Senators. Warner's tenure in the senate depends upon personal favorability and rapport with his constituents.  If those remain high, he's in the senate until he decides to retire.

I don't see Warner ever being particularly vulnerable; he fits the state very well.  I only see him losing if there is a Republican tide, or if a very popular Republican comes along later on to challenge him.

It's "Easley". I'm sick of that spelling error.

Not Bayh, that's for sure. It's not worth it to lose that senate seat. Richardson, Sebelius, Biden, and many others (like Easley) would be just as good.

Obama-Nelson would be unstoppable.  Then again, Obama-most of these would.

If he's a good Senator, he can last indefinitely, just like John Warner did. Our state has a history of voting for our senators based on performance more than party. Moderate Democrats can be successful here, and we even had an Independent Senator, Harry F. Byrd Jr., for years.
