>>he goes to a COGIC church now<<

United Church of Christ.  The UCC is a very liberal Protestant denomination and the congregation Barack has been a part of for many years is mostly minority.  But the denomination, as a whole, tends to skew white.  The UCC was formed out of the old Congregational Church.

The COGIC -- Church of God in Christ -- is an historically African-American denomination and, I believe, has its roots in the Pentecostal Holiness tradition.  (I could be wrong about that.)

Yes, you are right to both. So then he is pretty liberal theologically as well as politically. COGIC is very strong in the South among blacks. They are also conservative theologically. I'm also going to one today...should be a blast Smiley.

I want to wish everybody on the forum Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

Yep, pretty much on target.  And same to you!

Very positive.

I'm also not quite sure what he's running on, besides some vague platitudes and narcissism.

lol, you support Edwards.

neutral. he seems like a nice guy and a good speaker, but i dont trust him. he's the same as everyone else in washington, and with as little experience as he has in public service, i do not want him going from state senator to senator to president in five years.

I have a generally positive opinion of him, but I'd like to see how he stands up to the rigors of the long campaign. So far he's done very well, though.

Also he has done nothing particularly ground shaking in the Senate.

I would like to point out that LBJ thought JFK had no shot because he never did anything in the Senate for 8 years.  Just because you don't do a lot of flashy stuff on the floor doesn't mean you would do a poor job as President.

Neutral. If one were to use a sports simile, it would be apt to compare Obama to a high draft pick out of high school. The player hasn't been in the college system, but he has seemingly limitless potential to blossom into a star in the big leagues.

Obama's potential as a leader ranges up to Kennedy/F.D.R if he lives up to expectations and down to Carter/first term Clinton if he fails miserably. Edwards' is too combative to be an effective leader and Hillary is too cautious to fix our many problems as a nation. Alas, Joe Biden would be the best President of the group, but few in the media and the elite gave him a chance...
