Who should be his VP choice?

I say Richardson. His supporters held a rally for him and he can balance the expirence(sp) on the ticket.

I know this sounds awful, and I certainly don't endorse the rationale, but two ethnics on the same ticket is probably not a good idea.

Biden would be great. Too bad he wouldn't accept.

They need either a moderate from the West or South. Edwards wouldn't accept and he's not terribly moderate. You got any ideas?
I think either Ritter or Sebelius would be outstanding choices.

The best choice for Obama would be Biden, like Sensei said. Obama needs someone with a lot of political experience which is why Bill Ritter is not a good choice. If he didn't run in '04, John Kerry would have been a good VP pick.

Why not Bill Nelson of Florida?

CPT Mikey, or anyone else, what do you think of having Governor Mike Easley of North Carolina on the ticket with Obama?

Makes sense to me.  An accomplished and capable chief executive with governmental experience, with a reputation as a reformer and as a Governor running a fiscally responsible administration.

Easley has more maturity than Obama being 58 years old this year.

There is absolutely no way Obama picks a VP candidate from another racial or ethnic minority.  It's not going to happen.

Let's face facts, his running mate will be a white male.

I'll buy that for a dollar.

Tweed just listed Feingold too which is another good selection. As much as I think he is an SOB, Chuck Schumer would be a decent pick for him too. Jack Reed isn't a bad choice either.

My bet is that Obama picks someone with a lot of Washington experience.

Then Easley's the man.

Easley would be a great VP, but I don't think Easley would want to do it.

I'd thought that... plenty of experience, from an important state, a decent "back story" and not likely to dilute the "change narrative" Obama will hope to continue on... beyond that I'd again agree that Biden could work, maybe a Gov like Bredensen or Easley?

He most definetley should not choose a non-white male as his running mate.   Depending on who the GOP nominates, Obama will already have a small problem as it is with his stance on illegal immigration, and you better hope it doesn't become a major issue in the general election.  Putting a black guy and a Mexican on the same ticket?   Please.  Don't start taking a mile because someone gave you an inch

The only problem with that is the fact the Florida has a Republican governor, so we would be giving the GOP a Senate seat.  I think Easely is the perfect choice, because his term is up, and he is from the South.

I don't think the Republicans will have 49 seats after election day '08 so I wouldn't lose sleep over Nelson running with Obama.

Besides the idea of having a governor as a VP has never sat well with me. The last governor to become VP was Ted Agnew and we all know how that turned out.

If Obama selected Mike Bloomberg, then I would concider voting for Obama.

Wikipedia says he's pro-life, but doesn't cite a source. Assuming it's true, then he's obviously out of consideration.

Feingold is Jewish, plus he's probably too liberal. I think Mike Easley would be a good choice.

here's the dirty little secret about the immigration issue: it helps Republicans where they need it least (the South) and hurts them where it hurts them most (the West and the Southwest). the thing is, it is highly important to the Republican base.

I agree that Richardson would be a poor VP choice and that the country isn't ready for two non-whites on the same ticket (though both are half-white, so I guess between them that is one white male, though Middle America obviously doesn't see it that way). Besides Richardson's name is "richardson" not "gonzalez" or "martinez," so a lot of people might not even identify him as hispanic.

'too liberal' is a bad myth.  if 2004 and 2006 didn't teach you to stop worrying about that kind of bullsh**t, maybe nothing will.  the label won't stick on Feingold.  "change" obviously sells in this election cycle, and you aren't going to get a ticket that wreaks of more change than Obama / Feingold.  Easley would have no interest in the position and has the charisma of a scarecrow.

BUT HES TEH MODERATE FROM TEH SOUTH WHOS POPULAR!11111!

yeah, I don't give a sh**t.  you shouldn't either.

Mike Easley, Janet Napolitano, Kathleen Sebilius and Bill Ritter (even though he did kill a man in Africa) would each be strong VPs.

It also said that DeWine was pro-choice. Easley is not pro-life. NARAL says so.
