The Drudge is a tabloid for neocons and reactionaires.

Well, if she does, great....and Drudge still has to triangulate....Drudge is more of an anti-clinton website than anything. Heh. If the GOP can pull it off without Clinton and Guiliani, then the dems might as well give up.

While Drudge does a decent job of getting scoops, it is premature for the Clinton camp to be discussing dropping out, even in private.  They have a good stash of cash and are polling well on the national scene.  She just needs to come in first in a pro-Killary state and it will cool Obama's rise just enough to remain competitive.

She is getting shut out of the early primaries though...

Early primaries with tiny delegate counts in states that don't represent the entire view of the democratic party across the nation.  Unlike Edwards who will be out of cash before Super Duper Tuesday, Killary has enough to give Obama a run to that big primary day and pick up a few big states.  If she fails to do so, then she'll be out.

Not a chance she bails.  Absolutely zero.

1)  no waaaaay she gives up on her relentless desire for power

2)  waaaaay too early - she has millions and the big harvest is feb 5th.

Just crazy talk.

A lot of people are going to be very embarrassed and politically damaged if she pulls out.

Of course, that number of people increases the longer she stays in the race-- assuming she loses.

The real casualty in all of this is Bill Richardson, who was clearly running for Clinton's VP spot, and is now sputtering worse than ever before because no one can figure out why he's still running.  (And, frankly, I'm curious as to why he is enough of a serious contender to be included in the debates when Dennis Kucinich and Mike Gravel aren't.  Their chances of victory are the same.)

If she loses the Democratic nod, it will signal the political death for a number of people in the party from a logistical and strategic viewpoint.

Are you looking forward to it as much as I am? Cheesy

As much as I dislike Huckabee, I suspect his winning the nomination would have a similar effect on the Republican party as well.

I sure am - it's almost always a good thing to see a career politician crash and burn. Grin

She is getting shut out of the early primaries though...

You make a good point.  Iowa democrats would easily vote for the non-establishment candidate from a neighboring state.

But, on the other hand, you have to look at the polls before Iowa and then after Iowa in New Hampshire.  Iowa gave Obama a HUGE boost.  If he handily wins New Hampshire like he did in Iowa, then it's going to be VERY hard for Clinton to really win.

Sure, Iowa and New Hampshire don't represent the democratic party in whole, but the surge that Obama has enjoyed in the NH polls, thanks entirely to Iowa, gives me pause to ask the question:  Were people just waiting for an excuse to vote for Obama?  (And NOT Clinton)

I think the answer is clearly, Yes.

There is absolutely no reason for Clinton to quit until Super Tuesday.

Clinton's in this to win.  When someone's in it just to advance their own political position, they have little reason to care about anything other than keeping on going until defeat is assured.  She has very little to lose - if she doesn't get the nomination now, she will likely never get it.

This feels like either one of two things:

1. Clinton lowering expectations or trying to convince Indys that Obama has the race in the bag.
2. Edwards supporters planting stories to place fear in Clinton voters.

Don't see any reason why Obama would do this...

If Clinton dropped out and then the unthinkable happened and Obama dropped out, too, Richardson could become a contender.  Kucinich could not become a contender under any circumstance, and Gravel?  Only as second on a Kucinich ticket.

It would be monumental if she dropped out before Super Tuesday. She's lost one caucus and this is how her campaign has freaked out? Imagine how she'd act in a crisis if this is how she's handling her campaign! She;s completely fallen apart. Even I didn't expect to see this happen.

It hasn't happened.

Chances are it's been leaked by a rival to make her supporters even more skittish.

Clinton has SO much money, she's not going anywhere until Feb 6. If she's been thumped the night before, she'll get out, but not before. She's not going to just give someone the nomination, why should she?

does anyone really think that a 'top aide' to clinton would talk to the Drudge Report? And that the top aide would hint they are planning on dropping out on the eve of the NH primary?
