I don't understand this LBJ hatred. This the worst man ever to be president actually signed into law some of the most important legislation in American history. Please remember no American with the possible exception of Lincoln has done more for the African American cause than Lyndon Baines Johnson.

The only reason it got to LBJs desk was because the Republicans pushed the legislation through congress. LBJ was a racist and history proves it. Plus he was responsible for the death of a US president.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Ulysses S. Grant. Though perhaps a formidable general, he was a drunkard president who had no clue about how to be president.

Then explain to me what LBJ meant three days before JFK was killed.

LBJ should be ranked about #1 on anyones list. He's lucky he got away with all he did.

And yes, that is a real quote that you CAN hear on his arrest video.

I don't know if he said that. If he did, I have no clue what he meant, but I'm sure he didn't mean he was part of a conspiracy trying to assasinate Kennedy. If you say that LBJ was "responsible" for Kennedy's death, something no credible historian ever has claimed, I think it's up to you to prove it.

If the whole theory has no possibility why then did the History Channel do a ten hour series called, "The Men who Killed Kennedy". And why did the Johnson family raise so much hell about it? LBJs former mistress has come forward to admit that their was a conspiracy.

I don't think what a commercial TV channel does or does not do is evidence here, nor what LBJ's former mistress thinks. Nobody has presented any evidence showing LBJ was in any way involved in the murder. That's enough. Re-writing history is something I would strongly advise against.

I'm curious as to why "man" is pluralized in that title of that History Channel program.  Was it really completely about the idea that LBJ was responsible for the assassination or was it just throwing that out as a possible theory?

It was a conspiracy between the CIA and LBJ to rid Washington DC of all the Kennedys. LBJ hated both Kennedys and LBJ had deep ties to the military industry in the US. JFK did NOT want to ratchet up Vietnam but LBJ had already promised his business cronies a boost in business. LBJ has a long history of playing dirty politics. If you don't believe me look at his record in Texas. Another good one is Sirhan Sirhan....yeah he acted alone.

And besides ordering the killings of John and Robert Kennedy, LBJ also was responsible for the murder of Martin Luther King. He couldn't tolerate any famous ns cause he was a vicious racist. He also ordered tinkering with Ted Kennedy's car at Chappaquiddick cause he wanted to kill him too cause he hated these Kennedys cause he was evil and brutal and corrupt and played dirty politics.

Yes, I see how winning WWII and helping the nation through the Great Depression makes someone the worst president.

He was a socialist.  And I don't think the president 'wins' wars, the nation does.  Roosevelt was very good at bucking up morale, but I think almost any president could've led the nation to victory.

FDR certainly helped out, don't you think? And he wasn't a socialist; he saved the country from socialism. When Norman Thomas was asked if FDR had carried out the Socialist Party's program, he said, "Yes... he carried it out on a stretcher."

As for my choices
1. Clinton - lying, self-centered rapist
2. Jackson - impolite, ruthless, cruel, vicious
3. L. Johnson - intimidating and totally corrupt
4. F. Roosevelt - he himself acknoledged he had done enough illegal acts to be imprisoned for 999 years
5. Kennedy - Bill Clintion's role model
6. A. Johnson - far too bitter and prejudiced
7. Harding - not as bad as is usually portrayed but he still had several extramarital affairs
8. Lincoln - exiled Clement Vallandigham from the US because he dared use his right of free speech
9. Arthur - cleaned up when he became president but was corrupt as Customs Collector of New York
10. Nixon - a highly bitter and mysterious personality

With the exception of LBJ and Nixon I agree completely with this list. I never understood why Americans remember Kennedy so fondly - had he lived he likely would not have been re-elected. That's why he was in Dallas the day he was killed, because Texas was a crucial state he thought would cost him the election.

John F. Kennedy was a horrible, immoral, lying, filthy man. He wasn't all that good looking either.
There is no historical basis to your claim that JFK probably wouldn't have been re-elected. Don't allow your dislike of the man to distort the facts. He was very popular even before he was shot, and if he had run against Goldwater he most certainly would have been re-elected.

The part about the Republicans pushing civil-rights legislation through Congress is inaccurate.

It was a conspiracy between the CIA and LBJ to rid Washington DC of all the Kennedys. LBJ hated both Kennedys and LBJ had deep ties to the military industry in the US. This is a left-wing looney theory that has been out there for a long time, the idea that JFK intended to pull out of Vietnam (which conveniently exonerates the liberal patron saint of the heinous Vietnam crime in which he had a strong hand) but that the military industry wouldn't have it because of the great profits they saw coming from Vietnam, so they had him killed.  This is not a theory that is usually advanced by conservatives.

I don't deny that LBJ was a dirty poltician - as dirty as they come.  I also don't deny that there was some kind of conspiracy behind the Kennedy assassinations (John and Robert) and the King assassination.  But I don't think that anything as vast as what you were talking about could have been kept secret for 40 years.

I think Kennedy would have won re-election comfortably in 1964 had he run, and he would not have pulled out of Vietnam as the liberals have convinced themselves.  He would have ended up in the same mess as LBJ, though he may have done it a little better.

Republicans did not push through the civil rights laws of the 1960s, but a larger number of Republicans than Democrats supported those laws, since the Democrats at that time were effectively two parties - a more progressive northern wing and a backward southern wing.  Republicans provided the margins of victory for those laws.
