And in educated countries, people know the difference between spanking a child and hitting a child. Care to try again?
Spanking a child does teach them a lot of things. The problem is that those are things such as:
- You should use violence to get your way.
- You should be afraid of your parents.
- You should hide things from your parents.
and other such wholesome ideas.
Really, spanking is good to get your kids to stop doing things, sure, but to actually teach your kids anything? Hardly. Your kids will learn to act nice when you're around, but you'll really just be breeding a fundamental disconnect between you and your children that will put up a barrier to any chances of actually talking to or connecting with your children in meaningful ways. Spanking is really no better than when parents use "because I said so" as a reason for something.
