Barack Obama secures the delegates needed to warp up the nomination in March. He is, later that day cut down by asassins bullets.

What would happen in the aftermath? Who would be the front runner/take on the mantle. What would happen at the convention.

Methinks we go to the convention and likely nominate the runner-up (likely Hillary or Edwards).  Perhaps with Michelle Obama being put into the VP spot.

Does Obama die? If he don't die then of course he still is in the race. He wife would more then likey take over until he gets better. Now if he dies then at the convention they would vote to see who will take his place.

Understand that 'cut down' is a euphemism for death, often in a violent way.

Oh I like it - an older, embittered mountain of a man reluctantly takes the helm to make what he can of a younger, better man's promise.  Its just like JFK and LBJ!

Indeed...does Obama have a brother who can run the country during a lackluster season 6?

Probably the runner-up, who will, in all likelihood, be Hillary.  Sometimes, even I forget the fact that Obama is technically an apostate Muslim.

Whats the relevance of that?

Obama's father having converted from Islam to non-religion, he would be the apostate Muslim, not Obama.

Perhaps the scenario isn't as far fetched as one may think?

No, he is not.  His father was an agnostic when he was born.  Unless apostasy is genetic, that would make his father the apostate, not him.  There is no evidence that Obama was ever a Muslim.

The runner up in each state would probably get those delegates, so I imagine that Hillary would win.

The convention is held.

The Obama and Edwards delegates, who, in this case, would clearly be in the majority, unite behind Edwards and nominate him on the first ballot.

Regardless that Clinton is the runner up, she does not control enough delegates to get the nomination.  The Obama delegates would prefer Edwards over Clinton, and would therefore nominate Edwards, uniting with the Edwards delegates.
