Former Rep. Mark Deli Siljander is charged with being part of a ring that sent tens of thousands of dollars to a warlord ally of the Taliban.

Story incoming.

(Weeeeird.  Did he represent Dearborn?  I can't tell.)

It will be interesting to see how involved (other than lobbying) he really was with the operation.

He was probably a RINO and a Romney supporter since he's from Michigan.

Anyway, last I heard (when the story was just breaking) apparently Siljander himself isn't being charged with aiding terrorists. Word is that he was unaware that the funds were going to the Taliban and Al Qaeda.

This is not the only data point. Just ask Richard Clarke or Ray Kelly.

Calling Hekmatyar a "warlord ally of the Taliban" is worse than absurd. That's like a partisan Republican of this forum calling BRTD "Gully Foyle's sidekick" (no, no one ever did.)

You fool - it doesn't matter if nobody ever did, he'll still make a poll about it now!

A potential VP pick for Mitt Romney?

I believe Siljander was viewed very much as an out of touch holy-rolling zealot.  He lost a 1986 primary to Fred Upton, and then lost his comeback bid in Virginia (circa 1992).

This is not really a party issue. If true, it merely means thatone man is depraved beyond belief.
