I'm not seeing the problem with the Act. An extra Ranger battalion is a great asset to our armed forces for a small price.

Just a reminder that this bill is still on the floor.

Or rather a great asset to the forces of the United States. It's all in the wording. Theres no reference to our armed forces in the bill.

Change the damn wording then. Though you've been the biggest opponent of the military in the entire history of Atlasia so it's not a surprise at all.

Amendment:

Correcting Past Mistakes Bill

1. All instances of "United States" in F.L. 8-8 and F.L. 8-13 shall be replaced by "Atlasia" or "Atlasian" as appropriate.

As the original sponsor of the Military Enlargement Act (IIRC), I think it would be terrible to waste an extra battalion of rangers.  I urge all Senators to vote against this act.

I agree with Jake. As far as efficient military spending goes, this is about the best demo of it I can find. I support jakes amendment on the grounds that this bill is a great showing for our military and fiscal responsibility.

I'm more than happy with Jakes amendment. I put this forward not because of any funding issue; I was simply raising an important point on the wording that still exists in old (and even not so old) bills. I even, IIRC made that point on the legislation introduction thread. I would hope Senators would consider this before jumping down my throat Smiley

Then why repeal such bills rather then replace them. And why did you not include F.L. 8-8? Or F.L. 6.2? Or F.L. 3.6?

Include the two additional above acts in the amendment please Verily.

Then why repeal such bills rather then replace them.

It's done the job - it's highlighted the situation and legislation is now being drafted to amend it. Legally speaking we effectively were legislating for another country anyway - the bill did not, and has not had any effect on our armed forces because it wasn't referring to our armed forces to begin with. Nothing would have been gained or lost through this bill as a result.

That's why I've been slightly aggreived at the reception it has received (and a bit of jumping the gun on your part Jake) but pleased with the amendment.

Verily, could you add F.L. 6-2 and F.L. 3-6 to the amendment as requested above? Sorry I didn't make it more obvious.

Just a reminder that debate on this legislation is still open. If there are no further objections, I will move for a final vote within forty-eight hours.

I let this slip down a bit further than I meant to... anyway. As debate has ceased, I will move for a final vote.
