If Obama wins do you think Israel may feel emboldened to unilaterally take on Iran on its own?

No, I doubt it.

Sarkozy warned Iran that Israel could take its national security matters on its own hands. I was thinking that if Israelis think Obama will be less reliable than McCain would they go ahead and do it?

I'm hoping that the Israel-Syria Peace Treaty goes through. This would really weaken Hezbollah and then the Lebanese and Israelis will be on the way to an Israel-Lebanon Peace Treaty.

Iran will be isolated and have to give up their activities if they don't want to be isolated, but they'd only move forward to peace with Israel if the Sunni Arab trifecta all recognized Israel as well (2 out of 3 have).

I think Israel is less likely to do something if the US won't support them.

No....clearly.  Obama supports Israel just as much as McCain does.  They (Israel) may do it independently of who is in the White House if they feel threatened...as would be their right.  It would have nothing (little?) to do with who was the sitting President of the US.

I would actually come out in full support of Obama under one condition, that condition being that we stopped funding and do not recognize Israel

That is possibly what pisses me off the most. The US doesn't need to be Israel's bitch.

If it came down to a confrontation, Israel has nukes and Iran doesn't. Period.

Yup, its truly the biggest blocker to peace in the world.  I like to use this analogy:

There is a ghetto and in this ghetto is a rec center.  Then, rich white people buy the rec center, knock it down, and build a big mansion.  Then the rich white people are angry that the minorities in the neighboorhood are throwing sticks at their house and want help.  What the hell did they expect?  I don't object as much to the idea of Israel as the placement, although I still don't see why the Jews are this exhalted group that deserve their own homeland.

Not quite. Remember that the ghetto used to be a rich neighbohood long before that.

Bump.  If no coalition is formed, when will the next elections be held?

Early next year, probably. But the chances of a new coalition are pretty small now.

A big one, they had all time loa of 12 seats in the outgoing Knesset because many of their leaders (Sharon, Olmart) moved to Kadima.

I guess with some old faces coming back this week to the party (Beny Begin, Dan Meridor) they might come better on the next poll.
