Thanks; even though that article is 4 years old, and the information is probably even older.

So it's 5 to 15 years at this point.

Do you know how Israel treats Jewish converts to Christianity?

Does that matter?

Rom 11:29 As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies on your account; but as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs, God's gifts and his call are irrevocable.

And he will cleanse Israel upon his return:

Rom 11:26 The deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob.

Not according to their ways, but according to his promise:

Eze 20:44 Then you will know that I am the LORD when I have dealt with you for My name's sake, not according to your evil ways or according to your corrupt deeds, O house of Israel.

Of course it matters. I do not deny that there the promise made to Abraham is valid. The land of Israel was nothing more than the type of what the inheritance of the seed of Abraham is, that is, the whole universe in the person Jesus Christ, whose kingdom shall have no end.
What I do deny is that Christians are obliged to support land grabbing by apostate Jews who persist in rebellion.

Better than how Saudis treat Islam coverts to Judaism?

One man.  One vote.  One time.  It just takes one election to kill a democracy.

Answer: There aren't any.

You know, Jordan is an Arab country and a functioning democracy.

And I doubt the Arabs will muster more voters than Jews in Israel.

That's their (the Arabs) goal.

Because Judaism doesn't encourage conversion.

It may be their goal, but I just don't see it happening; even if they do, I doubt they could form a Government.

What makes you say that? Like I said, look at Jordan.

Erm, so? You think there's been a massive demographic shift since then? The big thing is that the Arab population is also very young. 42.4% of the Palestinian population is under the age of 14. Also from 2007 estimates:

Birth rate: 30.99/1,000 population
Mortality rate: 3.85/1,000 population

This is true, it takes something like seven years to convert as I recall.

Obviously it is more than just a type or shadow, otherwise the New Testament would have treated Israel and the promises to that country as merely shadows, as it does the Jewish feasts and holy days.

Bono,

Also, you're saying that there are physical implications to our world today of the events of Genesis ch1 thru ch12, but not of the events of Gen ch12 thru ch50.   Yet there is no justification for cleaving the book of Genesis like that.

One of the curious things about this issue is the way it seems to cause otherwise reasonable people (or at least people who normally appear to be capable of being reasonable) to think and say things that they would, probably, find disgusting in just about any other context.

I have said this before and I will say this again we have no business supporting Israel in the Middle East. It goes against our interests as they really do not support Democracy among the Arabs and are far too brash and their government is ridiculous for us to support them. I do not care what the Bible says here, it is not our guide to foriegn policy and if you, like I, think that God will always bless the Jewish people, then you can believe they do not need our help anymore. I still support humanitarian funds to Israel but they do not need military funding anymore.

Quite right. Methinks it's because Israel is a quasi-religious subject (and religion does these sorts of things).

Yeah pretty much. Does anybody really think Ben or jmfsct would like Israel at all it were, say, Zoarastrian?

As long as it were an ally of the US, I would support it some, but not nearly as much as I do currently.  I'll admit that me being Jewish goes a long way in determining my support for Israel.
