About 6% Mormon, so they probably make up about 15% of GOP primary voters. Here's another state he can easily take coming up.

Given the moderate nature of Hawaii Republicans, I would say McCain will have the edge.

Who knows? I have a lot of family in Hawaii, and they are all Democrats; the Republicans are virtually nonexistent except for the governor (who's Jewish). I think Romney could get a win because it is a closed caucus, but the largest Republican vote shares are among:
-Military
-Filipinos
-Native Hawaiians
Many of the Native Hawaiians are Morman. I doubt there will be many military caucus voters which doesn't help McCain. I'm not sure, but I'm betting on McCain. However we could see Romney, Giuliani, or even Paul winning. I doubt Huckabee or Thompson would win, but it is all up in the air. There just aren't Republicans in Hawaii.

Romney, quite conceivably, could win Hawaii.

He could, particularly if Romney makes the smart move and spends a day or even two to travel to Hawaii. Because no one ever campaigns in Hawaii, I'm sure the local population would be extremely flattered and immediately enamored, and the Republicans don't have any events until the 29th otherwise anyway; Romney can afford a couple of days away from Florida (and Maine and the Feb 5 states) to get more momentum from a big victory in Hawaii.

What about Ron Paul?  This is exactly the kind of state he wants to win - and could.  A bunch of wacko Paul supporters from Hawaii?  What's the voter turnout for their caucuses?  I've looked but couldn't find anything from 2000

I seriously think Hawaii is one of the states where Paul can win. If he puts a part of the almost $20 million raised in the last quarter in there, he can win. Besides, it seems that his campaign is doing ok with caucusing.
