Big win for Romney, right in McCain's back yard.

Romney is on a roll.

Not really. 20% of the Republican electorate was Mormon and all the Romney had to do was get another 10% and he would have won. Not that big of a win.

It really would not matter to you how Romney wins a caucus or a primary, you and others like you will try to find anything to use as an excuse for you to say Romney did not really have much of a victory.

Yes, according to Bill Schneider, 25% of Republican voters in the caucus are Mormon, although only 12% of the Nevada population overall is Mormon.

However, Romney also carried the evangelical vote over Huckabee.

Romney coming in with a majority, or a near majority, of the vote is nonetheless a big win.

There's no doubt that this is a great victory for Romney... albeit an expected one.  The only thing I would worry about if I was him, would be these results being overshadowed by South Carolina.

Yes, but he is leading by like 30. No one expected that.

Nevada is worth more than South Carolina in delegate count (remember SC was stripped of half their delegates, even though it is almost 3 times as big).

It must be a poll from January 2007, not 2008.  Smiley

Giuliani is still dead last, behind Duncan Hunter! Its just a few precints, but its amazing how bad the fortunes of Giuliani have turned.

SC is already the late game with a lot more stories because of more real competitors there.  I might also worry about a Paul silver giving people (especially the media?) more reason to put little stock in the NV results.

We had just 3 post-NH polls of NV: Research 2000, ARG, and Mason Dixon.  All of them were way off, but Mason Dixon probably came closest, by at least giving Romney a double digit victory margin (though all of them underestimated Paul enormously).  ARG was at least better than Research 2000, who had McCain winning.

RON PAUL IS NOW TIED WITH MACK CANE!!!

In CNN yes, but the official GOP results webpage, which seems to have more updated numbers, still has McCain above Paul.

He'd better hope he murders everybody in Florida, which doesn't look likely.  If he doesn't he's pretty much toast going into Super Tuesday.

Paul has 60% of the vote in Esmeralda county....Tongue

Population 971 as of the 2000 census. Doesn't take much.

That's based on 1 of 5 precincts: Paul 12, McCain 3, Huckabee 3, Hunter 2. 0 for Romney, so I'm guessing that there aren't many Mormons there.

Yes, big win Romney. It may not carry the same traction as that for whoever wins SC even though the latter has been stripped of half its delegates

Romney goes into Super Tuesday, regardless of what happens in SC and FL. He's won MI, handidly, now assuming the exit polls and early results are near or on the money, NV by a landslide, where next? Of course, Romney can't devote the kind of time and effort to every state like he has done, thus far. That said, none of them can but he has the money

Just because the winner of the SC primary has won the GOP nomination since 1980 or whenever, it doesn't necessarily have to be that way in 2008 Wink

I don't care much for Romney but he's working hard at winning the nomination, so good luck to him for that if nothing else

The TV seems to have been putting up numbers just as quick as the websites this whole cycle. A welcome change.
