Ask me 2-3 years ago and I'd be inclined to think about supporting McCain. However, his pandering to the far right has sickened me. His Iraq policy also is absurd. So....no, he doesn't get my vote, even against Hillary.
Yeah. He went from the voice of reason to megaBush. What an ass.

Well, we are campaigning here because we don't want a 100 years' war and we don't want 4 more years of what got us into this mess...

I'm not sure about McCain's fitness. Is he mentally ready to be Commander in Chief? While I admire his courageous support for a carbon cap and trade system, I have some deep worries about his bellicose streak. His recent comments on Iran are alarming, too.

What exactly have you heard him say about Iran? Do you think McCain could start a draft?

I find McCain's "bomb Iran" remarks and his insistence that a "military option be kept" a little unnerving...

You mean his joke?

He sang about bombing Iran....
While I like McCain personally, his stance on the war downright scares me

Hillary Clinton supported the war with a failed strategy, and then supports us leaving in shame and defeat.

Not that I really care about this, but in actual practice, once in the White House, I doubt Hillary does anything much different than McCain in terms of Iraq or world foreign policy.  It'll just be neo-liberalism vs. neo-conservatism, which are really two peas in a pod, when you get down to it.

I'd prefer Nixonian realism, but we're not going to get that.
Neo-Liberalism focuses more on people and good diplomacy, while neo-conservatism is much more agressive and jingoistic.
I actually like Neo-Liberalism a little, but I despise neo-conservatism.

Neo-liberalism and neo-conservatism are not opposed. One can be both.

You could argue that Bush is both.

They see what the media tells them about him. The media doesn't go around saying "John McCain, son and grandson of 2 powerful 4 star admirals, cheated on his first wife with someone 17 years younger than himself, was involved in the Keating Five scandal, said he was against torture when he got through a pro-torture bill, has sucked up to Bush, and wants to stay in Iraq for 100 years". No, the media says "John McCain is a honest, good, experienced veteran".

Liberal Media, my ass...

Glad to see you coming around. I don't get what Democrats are seeing in McCain again, it's not 8 years ago and everyone hated him a year ago. I've never gotten the revived love for McCain.

You underestimate the power of the media and overestimate the intelligence of a lot of voters at your own peril.

Indeed. Now, when can we start blabbing about a conservative media?

Can we just start doing it now and hope the media catches on?
