All of the worlds important leaders and institutions disappear, starting the day after tomorrow.  You are charged with rebuilding a ruling over the world for the rest of your lifetime.  The catch is that you must pick six other Forum members to join you in a council like government where all decisions will be final.  They too will serve for the rest of their lives.  So, who would you pick and why?

Opebo:  Would oversee the regulation of "sin" industries like prostitution, drug use, etc and bring a leftist revolutionary perspective to the table.

MODU:  would be in charge of analyzing global economic trends and propose solutions.  Would also be in charge of monetary policy.

Everett:  Would be in charge of environmental policy and resource development/usage.

Mike (as in Army Mike) would oversee peacekeeping operations and make recommendations to the ruling 7 for mitigating and preventing outbreaks of violence using various methods with preference being given to those that result in the fewest deaths.

AFLeitch would be in charge of religious and cultural aspects, tying these into all other aspects of global government.  He would also act as the chief diplomat to individual nations.

Tender Branson would be in charge of human services (Education, welfare, and health care).

Me, being the supreme leader and all, would of course have to weigh the various opinions of all 6 other top governing officials.  As such, I would place an extra emphasis on cultural and environmental impacts of all decisions made with a goal of preservation whenever possible.

Everett

Naso (someone needs to keep us amused with his decisions on how to rule)

AndrewBerger

Sam Spade

bgwah

Joe Republic

I picked these people because they are smart (Naso is smart in his own weird ways), mild mannered (eh, excpect bgwah at times), funny people that I think I could get along with. It's also a good mix ideologically speaking.

Al: He knows alot of random information, which can be quite useful, will also give a firm leftist perspective to this "council". Always speaks his mind and is quick to call foul at anything that smacks of being idiocy.

Gabu: Again another left-wing viewpoint from a person with a great amount of political clarity and rationality. A more moderate voice than Al but with the same sort of realism.

Bono: As Alan Greenspan showed putting hard-line libertarians in control of institutions, especially economic ones, can be quite beneficial. Basically a guy who will always advocate for a minimal state and a truly free market. He will also help keep the rest of us bastards honest. If he does nothing else at least him and Al fighting with each other will be entertaining.

CPT Mike: You need a military affairs guy if you are going to be controlling the world. Mike, a former Army Captain, Iraq War vet, and political realist, would be the Atlasian most suited to that type of job.

afleitch: Really a smart guy with a good grasp of both policy and the inner workings of politics. Has a wide breath of knowledge on international politics. He is also a very well read religious scholar in his own right, I would also catagorize Bono as such. Another thing I like about Andrew is that he seems to be a person who knows how to come up with compromises and is in many ways a moderating influence.

Joe Republic: Joe's main purpose would be keeping all of us bastards honest, which is something he does incredibly well. Along with being a true moderate and an honest person he would be able to cut through the masses of BS that would probably cloud any sort of world government. Add to that his wit and generally good demeanor and I think he fits well in any sort of government.

You all should choose me, because I am "a man who clearly has an analytical mind and the ability to make people think."

That would give me 2 Republicans, 2 Democrats and 2 Independents. I think all of those have a capacity for logical thinking and being reasonable and would be willing to work for good aims. And I think I could get along with all of them, which would enable me to play them against each other and rule supremely! Cheesy

First - I'm flattered by the number of people who would want me on their council government - thank you!

Anyhow, he's my kick-ass council government. These forumits are selected off the basis of their critical thinking skills, their ability to be rational and I know they would work well together to get things done. Plus there is a variety of ages, backgrounds and knowledge that would be critical.

Ah yes now I remember that. Of course you would get a promotion. I guess General of the Armies would be in order though I've always been quite partial to the rank of Colonel General, just because it sounds so cool. Wink

A combination of sheer intellectual power and strong work ethics from all of these guys, some of them with personality traits especially useful in a ruling regime.  Al's the consience, the rest of them are machiavellian enough to get things done.
