If you vote yes, which Republican would make you vote against Hillary?

Not a chance that I vote for her, no matter who's the GOP nominee. Whether or not I vote for the GOP candidate is up in the air, but Im not voting for Hill.

If the Democratic nominee shows a pattern of winning by attempting to disenfranchise voters, racist innuendo by supporters and other dirty campaigning, I'll hope for a better choice.

If the Clintons do to McCain  what they have done to Obama, and McCain runs a postive campaign that seeks to unite all Americans, I will vote for McCain.

A Clinton or a Bush has been in the executive branch for twenty eight years. I am against oligarchies in America much more than I am against the Republican Party.

But at this point, ten months out, I will not make any absolute pledge if that's what you mean.

I don't hate Hillary at all.  And I will vote for her.

But I would prefer Edwards or Obama.  (Dodd or Biden, even more! LOL)

See, I think electing Hillary has a number of negatives associated with it.

1.    She is so viscerally hated by nearly all Republicans and some Democrats that she will be completely hobbled as President without a super-majority in Congress.  She will have terrific ideas and proposals.  Or, at least much better than what we've endured from The Decider for the last seven years.  But so what?  Everything she tries to do will die in Congress.  If Hillary finds a cure for cancer, here enemies would shoot it down.  Because it was Hillary's idea.  They hated Bill almost as much.

2.    Along those lines, I think we'll see the second coming of Ken Starr, Whitewater and other scandals (some real, many invented or created).  The continuous stream of bilge flowing over our fax machines and emails in the 90's will be resurrected.  "The Clintons had __________ murdered with the help of cocaine dealers."  "The Clintons hate America so much, they conspired with the Communist Chinese to give away American military secrets."  "Hillary participates in seances and Satanic rituals."  Blah Blah Blah.

I am SO done with that crap.

3.     She's socially liberal.  But she's economically moderate.  And I want an economic liberal, too.

That said, my top priorities are ending the mess in Iraq, addressing the income disparity in America and improving the environment.  As much as I might question Hillary's commitment to these issues, I absolutely know there is no Republican who would do better.

I could vote Socialist or Green.  But that would be a waste.  Then again, in Indiana, a vote for Hillary would be a waste too.

Don't - vote Green or Libertarian or Peace & Freedom or whatever... Staying at home gives even more reason for the political establishment to ignore people like you.

No, because there's a infinitesimal chance my vote will actually matter in a national election. I'd rather use my ballot to vote for someone I believe in, such as Chuck Schumer.

No, I'd write in Obama, anyway.

To be fair, I think a Hillary presidency would be the best thing that could happen to the Republican party. She'd inherit all of Bush's problems and the likely upcoming recession, she'd fight with congress [the Republicans would filibuster everything] and the Republicans would likely make big gains in the midterms. Then she's defeated in a landslide by a Republican opponent who promises "change from the status quo" in 2012.

Yes, I understand we are four years away from 2012 and the political atmosphere could change, but at least to me, the above scenario does not seem all that farfetched at this time.

So anyway, if Democrats think the above is likely to happen as well, is it any wonder so many of them would be cautious to support Hillary in the first place?

I'm not sure whether that is a good thing or not.

The Thing I've probably learnt the most from this forum is despite two monolithic parties US politics is probably more fractured than anywhere else in the western world outside of France. Not that that's bad either.

Unless the Republican candidate is either Huckabee or Romney, than it's unlikely that I'll be able to stomach voting for her. I may vote Libertarian, and then subsequently vomit myself into paralysis. Hopefully, a viable independent will emerge if Clinton is nominated.

The only problem is that these are even worse options.  There really are no sane third parties in the U.S. currently.
