I still say 8, though as my grandpa once told my dad (his son-in-law) -- you want a job from 12-1 with an hour off for lunch.

Depends on your job, I suppose. An average of 8 is fine though.

I did 10 hour days, 4 days a week when I was in the Air Force for awhile.  It wasn't bad, the consistent 3 day weekend was nice.  It really depends on the job and the person.

I'm not sure what the "should" here implies. In a genuinely free society people should work as much as they want to. In reality, you may need some laws to prevent abuse of minors and so on.
