My Laptop (built july 06)

Core Duo 1.83Ghz, dvd +/- rw, 2 GB Ram, 256 Mb ati radeon 1400 video card (yeah its okay, does video better than nvidia and uses less battery but not as good for graphic intensive stuff, 17 inch screen, 6 in 1 card reader, 120 GB harddrive

College desktop here for backup purposes
AMD throughbred 2200+, 512 Mb Ram, 256 MB Nvidia 5000 series video, on board nvidia soundcard, 17 inch monitor

At home we have a 2 and a half year old dell...1000GB of harddrive space (close to a terrabyte), 3.2 GHz Pentium D, 2 GB ram, 512 MB ATI card, can't remember what, 6.1 Speakers, 19 inch flat screen.  My dad's a graphic designer...one of the few at his age at least that we know of, decided in the early 1990s that the airbrush was very dead and went back to school for computers.

That's very nice. I stopped using laptops for classes this year. They just aren't that reliable.

They have shorter lifespans, but if you get a good warranty plan they can be quite useful.  Plus they serve as a useful shield from overly socratic professors.

Yes, but then I don't pay attention during class. I am posting here, actually. Though, the laptop was a good aide in doing in-class research through my outline and the case law and statutes.

Think we got it in late 2004. Surprisingly still runs well. Dell, Pentium 4, 80 GB hard drive, 512 MB RAM, DVD-ROM drive, bought a DVD-RW drive that I've never actually installed. Nothing special, but has given us good value for ~$1,000.

Alienware brand:
3.2 GHz Dual Core Intel processor
NVidia GeForce 8800 Ultra
2 Gigs of Ram
A few other bells and whistles

My next upgrade will actually be a newer, bigger monitor.
