I need an option for neutral. I don't agree with some of the votes he's made, but I realize you get what you can in the South, even in Arkansas.

Positive.  I think he's a future Congressional titan of the Democratic Party.  If he plays his cards right, he can be an old-style Southern Democrat who's been in Congress for years and chairs a powerful Committee.  I could also see him being an effective Whip.

David Pryor> Mark Pryor
Birch Bayh> Evan Bayh
John Culver> Chet Culver

Why are so many sons of Democratic politicians more conservative than their fathers?

Folks, these threads are nice and all - but they don't relate to the subject of Congressional Elections.  I'm leaving this one and the other up - though I may move them eventually, but any others will definitely be moved.

I don't think so.  The only two votes of his I could find relating to trade:

he also voted 'yes' on CAFTA so he's hardly a protectionist.

Bumping this one, because it is interesting how positive people were six years ago. Six years really are an eternity in politics,

Did any of you who were positive back then change your opinion of him?

Positive, considering the soulless radical who'll be replacing him.

David Pryor> Mark Pryor
Birch Bayh> Evan Bayh
John Culver> Chet Culver

Why are so many sons of Democratic politicians more conservative than their fathers?

Jerry Brown and Al Gore are probably a bit more liberal though.
