Just saw that the voters of Wyoming turned out in droves for Nixon in 1972, all 105% of 'em! 
Does anyone know of more such weird examples? There is also Montana in 2000, where the % of registered voters voting was 59%, and the % of VAP voting was 61%, meaning that the number of registered voters was slightly higher than the number of residents with the right to vote!

There are some inconsistencies in American election statistics which should be explained.
In a number of states/counties the number of registered voters exceeds the voting age population. The reason for this is that there is considerable mobility of population in some states/counties, and liberal democrats are almost pathologically opposed to purging voter lists of ineligible voters. Great effort is made by welfare offices to register people to vote, but great opposition is made to oppose multiple registrations. In short, a person can be registered at several different addresses.
