I like polls.

I chose London. New York is equal alternative too. It was hard decision. But it is shorter trip to London from Finland than to New York.

If we are a dying city, how come our population is expected to grow by one million within the next ten years? How come we have the biggest ethnic diversity in Europe? How come we have a higher influx of tourists than any other city in Europe? How come we possess amongst the most vibrant financial, political and artistic communities in the western world?

I voted New York.  There really is no capital of the world, but Wall Street is about as close as it comes.

Another option which could be considered here is Jerusalem.  Its religious importance to Jews, Muslims, and Christians certainly makes it one of the world's "most important" cities.
