Why? All you do is make sure all the signatures submitted to you are valid, proving the parties are still active.
No, to prove the party is the kind of party some people like rather than the kind of party other people like. Which is not even remotely a legitimate aim of legislation.

The State has too great a role regarding political parties as it is. We should scrap party registration.

This is a good example of why that part of the Constitution should never have been put in.

You referring to Article V Section 1 Paragraph 8?

So all this bill's bits about requiring a platform etc in order to be recognized are blatantly unconstitutional anyways as far as parties of over 5 registered voters go.

Not perfect, but I'm glad to see someone putting something forward. I'll sign.

Good idea.

I tried getting that removed, but it failed.

^^ To the speculative, perhaps he was referring to the amendment which allows citizens to propose legislation

There simply isnt a point to this. Does anyone here honestly believe that ideologues like us are going to be pigeonholed? I think not. All we will have is a ridiculously high rate of Independents. So the SoFA sits around and crunches the regulations for three parties comprising 40-50% of the voters registered while all of the dead party voters switch to I. Cant say Im going to back this one, as it makes the SoFA position even harder to fill (something I thought impossible).
