I love how people are saying "Iowa is so flat!OMG"

HA!

It's just too bad that Florida is such a mountainous paradise... otherwise... wait... oh yeah.

Very little of Iowa is actually flat.  Almost the entire state is covered in rolling hills, some of them quite steep, and they are cut with small creeks and streams.

The quintessential "steamy summer day spent swinging on a rope into the creek" could very well have taken place somewhere in Iowa... and not in Florida, where numerous poisonous and otherwise very large and man-hungry animals are waiting for you upon completion of your cannonball.

I mean, yeah.. I could post pictures of beautiful tropical islands and white sand beaches and large mansions practically on the water... but you're only fooling yourself.  You will never live there.

Iowa.

For several essentially reasons.

First, I love farm landscape.

Second, it isn't infested with major cities, and illegal terrorists.

Third, plenty of German heritage there.

Fourth, it is more populist then Florida.

The answer is still Iowa.

What's up with a majority of this forum preferring that utterly disgusting worthless cesspool that is Florida?

Where?  If I could choose anywhere there are about 100 places in FL I rather live than another in Iowa, but there are certainly parts of Iowa I like better than Florida.  Once again, BRTD's poll is retarded

Then your favorite places in Florida vs. your favorite places in Iowa.

Though I'm having a tough time thinking of my favorite place in Florida. It's just an all around awful awful worthless excuse for a state.

Jacksonville isn't horrible.....well, for you it would be I suppose.  The rest of the state does suck for a variety of reasons.

errrr, I didn't say that, I said "a variety of reasons".  I lived on the RedNeck Riviera for more than 2 years ya know.  Miami, Orlanda, Tampa, Jax and Lower Alabama all suck for very different reasons.  (not that there aren't good aspects of Florida, certainly there is.  Some of the coolest people I've known have been from Florida.  It's just nowhere near as awesome as it's fans like to think it is.  Like Texas.)

Iowa - Flat... very flat, very cold, tornadoes....

Florida - heat, humidity, hurricanes...

Iowa just wins.

Holy crap!  Do you southerners run outside everytime the tornado sirens go off?  It can't just be population density that explains this can it?
Tornado deaths/number of Tornados between 1950-94

AR-279/854

Lots of people in the south live in these:

While lots of people in Iowa live in these:

That's what I would suspect leads to higher death rates in tornadoes.

Aye, that's probably it.  There are a lot of mobile homes here, but nowhere near as many as the south.  The only time I've ever lived in one was my 7 months in Biloxi.
State-tornado deaths/tornados- (percent homes that are mobile)
MS-386/1039-16.6%
AR-279/854-14.9%
Al-275/886-16.3%
vs
KS-199/2110-6.4&

Iowa.  I've lived in Florida and I currently live right across the river from Iowa.  I know both states well and it's Iowa by far.  Hurricanes suck.  Old people suck.  Tourists suck.  Red necks suck.  Retired New Yorkers suck.  Spring break sucks.  Sure corn is boring, but it doesn't suck.

Yep. Iowa it is.

Florida, probably. Sorry but Iowa is just boring as all hell. The only really positive thing about it is all of the political activity.

Actually Iowa is full of strip clubs and has a lot more indie venues than you'd think.

They put mustard on the burgers at Burger King. That's reason enough to stay away from there.
