Would anyone be interested in doing a President Morgenthau Timeline, different from Losing the Peace by Kovalenko on AH.Com?

Had an idea where Bob La Follette Sr. wins re-election in the House in 1890 (he only lost it iotl by 3 %/1,002 votes and Prohibition got 4.7 %/1,567 votes in the district, so just give him like half of pro-hibition's vote 784 and a little over 300 of the Democrat's vote and he'd barely win), while his guy, Congressman Nils P. Haugen, wins the Wisconsin Governorship in 1890, which he held until 1894, when he retires to prepare to run for President in 1896. Bob then runs for the Governorship and wins the position, serving to 1898 before being elected to the Senate, where he makes more of a name for himself as a progressive firebrand. As this goes on, Teddy Roosevelt dies in the SAW and McKinley picks Long for VP in 1900, and Long implements moderate reforms, basically seeming like he's doing something but he really isn't. WJB dies in an assassination in 1903 before he can run for President and so the Democratic Party is split between the Conservative Parker and the Progressive Hearst, with there being a party split as Hearst runs third party due to his own ego and so does La Follette after failing to unseat Long as President under the Progressive/Badger Party while Hearst runs under the People's/Reform Party (no idea for running mates, any suggestions?) La Follette wins outright as President and both his party and Hearst's party are able to win enough House and Senate Seats that a constitutional amendment is passed abolishing the Electoral College and replacing it with a NPV run-off system. After two terms, Follette declares he won't run for a third term and Hughes wins the 1912 Presidential Election, with the USA getting involved in WW1 still, though for different reasons in 1917. Later on, Huey Long becomes President and becomes the Juan Peron of the United States. Anyone interested in helping me?

  • Another RFK TL: Basically a TL where RFK doesn't get assassinated and wins the nomination and eventual election against Nixon. Basically a preservation and expansion of the Great Society through the 70s. RFK easily wins reelection against Reagan in 1972. Rockefeller is elected after RFK in 1976 serving two terms.
  • A Wave of Left: Based on NCT's 1972D's campaign with Nixon v Connally v Hall. Gus Hall, with his running mate, Jane Fonda would manage to win 5% for the CPUSA, granting it federal funding for future elections. Fonda would manage to win the California governorship in 1974 in which she serves, winning reelection in 1978. Meanwhile a Deadlocked 1976 leads to a Dem President and a GOP VP. and all the chaos that would ensue. The Dem President and GOP VP decline to run in 1980 due to multiple reasons. This sets up both GOP and Dem primaries for 1980 wide open. It would eventually lead up to a matchup between Ronald Reagan, and Jane Fonda. Jane Fonda would prevail at the end, and the 80s would be dominated by Dem leftism.
  • Rumsfeldia Averted: A TL where Hugh Carey is Elected President instead of Rumsfeld in 1980. Carey would be assassinated by John Hinkley, making Carey's VP, Reubin Askew President. Askew would narrowly lose to a Republican in 1984, the Republican would serve two terms before the Dems win with Jesse Jackson in 1992. Jackson serves two terms. The TL would end with the election of John McCain in 2000.
  • Rumsfeld at the Pilot's Seat: Donald Rumsfeld is picked as Reagan's VP. Reagan is killed by John Hinkley, leading to Rumsfeld becoming President. Rumsfeld's Presidency would be considerably different than Reagan and the effects would lead to a wildly different world.
  • A Deadlock in the 1990s: The 1992 Election ends in a deadlock between Bush, Clinton, and Perot. Chaos in the 90s ensues.
  • A Trumped Up World: Donald Trump becomes the candidate in the Reform Party in 2000, managing to get 5% in the election. This would ensure the slow survival of the Reform Party in to the 2000s. Trump would be an interesting figure throughout all of the 2000s and beyond.
  • The Arrests of September: 9/11 is foiled mere hours before the attack with the would be hijackers being arrested for terrorist plots. A no 9/11 would change a lot for the 2000s. Bush is less popular in this TL, but would narrowly win by the skin of his teeth in 2004 against John Edwards. 2008 under a less severe financial crisis sees Hillary Clinton winning against McCain, serving 2 terms, before being followed ironically by Jeb Bush in 2016.
  • The Skies of Blue: Starting in 2005, many minor changes occur, but begin to balloon out into much more. Some Including below:
  • Death of Gaddafi in Early 2006
  • Dennis Hastert and Larry Craig scandals come out earlier
  • American Dems win a bigger victory in the 2006 midterms.
  • The GOP and Dem primaries very different than OTL, with different candidates and races. Eventually Mike Gravel, who has been steadly rising in popularity manages to be nominated by the Dems, while Mitt Romney is nominated by the Republicans.
  • The 2008 Election is bigger blowout for Dems than OTL with Romney suffering more due to attacks to his work at Bain Capital, damaging him very much.
  • Dems enter 2009 with a massive majority with 290 seats in the house and 70 in the senate. With those majorities, the Dems enact their big progressive agenda as far as they possibly can, with varying effects but the big ones are, A better stimulus, better financial reform, a public healthcare option more like OTL's Americare, etc.
  • Death of Kim Jong Il lead to a spiraling of events, eventualy leading to a civil war where Kim Jong Nam surprisingly comes out on top.
  • The Arab Spring is very different than OTL, with some countries ending better or worse than OTL.
  • The rise of right wing populism is delayed somewhat to the 2020s.
  • Venezuela ends up a better country and relations and becomes a top oil exporter especially after the crises of 2018 and beyond.
  • Saudi Arabia collapses into Civil War after the King dies in a crash in late 2018. this would lead to TTL's ISIS equivalent being lead by a still not killed Osama of Al Qaeda taking large swaths of land, including Mecca.
  • China attempts to invade Taiwan in 2020, failing.
  • Another Indo-Pakistani war..
  • etc.
  • The Death of Hope and Change: Missteps in the Obama administration including: The Failure to take out Bin-Laden, The Grand Bargain taken, leading to severed relations between the left, lead to Obama losing to Chris Christie in 2012. How the rest of the 2010s are shaped is unknown.
  • The Political Revolution: Basically a Bernie Sanders wins 2016 TL and beyond, nothing much. This potential TL was effectively done in another forum by another user here.
  • A Political Revolution Denied: Bernie wins the 2016 Election, but faithless electiors voting for a conservative democrat throw the election to the house, where Ted Cruz wins. Understandably, this causes mass outrage by progressives against Ted Cruz and conservative democrats. It will be a long 4 years....
  • Trumpsfeldia: Donald Trump wins in a bigger victory due to more missteps by the Clinton Campaign. Obamacare is repealed, More Trump stuff is accomplished with it's consequences.
  • Another Bush in the House: Trump never runs in this TL, and Jeb Bush wins the GOP primaries. He wins against Clinton in 2016 and eventually wins against Kamala Harris in 2020. A GOP without Trump would be very different for the political landscape.
  • What Pandemic?: Basically no COVID-19. This changes the 2020s massively, with many, many changes in the political scene, with Trump narrowly defeated in a different way due to a recession. The culture without COVID is wildly different. Conventions, Gatherings, things that were cancelled without COVID happen in this TL.
  • The Shackles of Georgia: The Dems lose their Georgia races, leading to a GOP senate for Biden's Presidency. No IRA or other legislative wins for Biden, putting him into a much weaker position.
  • For want of a decision: The SCOTUS decision on Dobbs is delayed to 2025..
  • 2024: Hellscape: 2024 but CRAZY.

In 2024, Trump wins the popular vote but loses the electoral college.  This is possible due to his making inroads in places like NY and CA, winning TX and FL by double digits, but narrowly falling in MI/WI/PA.

Something like this:

Joe Biden: 47.4%, 276 EV
Donald Trump: 50.2%, 262 EV
