These threads are probably comedy goldmines.

Wow.

I think we can rule out any theories that Huckabee is still in this because he's gunning to be McCain's VP.

McCain did spend 7 years sucking up to Bush after Bush stabbed him in the back.

I really wouldn't put it past the Washington GOP to do some number "adjusting".

He hated Bush for the first couple years. It was only from 2004 and on that he sucked up to Bush. And even then Bush tried to piss him off, like at the Convention when he tried to lift McCain's arms to salute the crowd, knowing full well that McCain's arms were damaged in Vietnam.

Wow.

This isn't good. I was hoping for Huckabee to be McCain's VP candidate. He'll need to reach out to social conservatives.

Can anyone deny that Huckabee does have a legitimate grievance here? The way that was held and called was very very fishy.

They pretty much stopped reporting results before 100% was hit and the state GOP chair just came out and said McCain won.

I can.  Just "calling" it doesn't have any real effect on the vote.

It does if they quit reporting. 87% in, McCain leads about 200 votes, and the WAGOP just says "It's over, McCain wins, nothing to see here, move along..."

Or maybe they've just decided that that extra 13% doesn't really matter. Tongue

Wouldn't put it past the WAGOP.

Huckabee needs to accept already that he lost the nomination, dragging on with this (especially with lawyers) isn't going to make anyone happy.

If he thinks he's been gypped out of a win anywhere, even if it's too late to win the nomination, then why should he care about making the party machine and party hacks happy?

I assume they are finishing on Monday...?

They say they'll have more results on Monday afternoon... whether that means they're actually going to be finished is anyone's guess.

Apparently they are counting today due to, in their words, "high interest" in the results (AKA Let's find out if you were committing fraud). No word on whether they will release anything they count though.

Good for Huckabee. The GOP's actions yesterday were very suspicious.

I've heard that the numbers we've been seeing are merely the straw poll results (the number of supporters each candidate had at the beginning of the caucus)--not the actual delegate count.

To put this in perspective, Ron Paul got third place in the Clark County straw poll but ended up with the most delegates from that county.

Huckabee or Paul could have certainly won more delegates from the caucus than McCain. But the state GOP isn't telling us anything---they were 45 minutes late with their updates, they weren't giving us any information about delegates, and they weren't giving us any county information (we've only been able to find the results of 5 or 6 counties from various reports).

But really, this is just more of the same for the Washington GOP. They tried to silence hundreds and hundreds of valid voters in the 2004 gubernatorial election to get the result they wanted, and it will be much easier for them to "adjust" the results in their own caucus to their liking.

It is worth mentioning that the Washington State GOP would be a serious contender for most pathetic and incompetent state party in the entire nation.

You'd have to be a really strong contender for that in order to beat the Illinois GOP.

Actually this is one contest that the WV GOP might actually win...
