Has anyone else noticed how these two are similar?  Here's what I came up with:

1. The "inevitable" Democratic candidate is close to the past Democratic president (Russell + Hoynes = Clinton)
2. The leading Democratic contender has had involvement in a sex scandal (Hoynes = Clinton)
Th eventual nominee is a nobody Congressman who previously served in local politics and is a minority (Santos=Obama, although eventual nominee is unknown at this point)
3. The eventual Republican nominee is a maverick who doesn't meet the views of all conservative Republicans and hails from the West (Vinick = McCain)
4. The last challenger for the Republican nomination is a preacher who is firmly pro-life and challenges to the end (Butler=Huckabee, though Huckabee might not last until the end)
5. The early leader for the Republican nomination is someone who lead the nation in a national crisis (Walken in Zoe Bartlet kidnapping = Giuliani during 9/11)
6. The Democratic Convention goes all the way to the primary (that remains to be seen)

Can anyone think of any others?
