I posted here frequently in 2004 and in 2006.  Today is my first day back since election day in 2006 and I want to know if any Republicans still post here?  Or have they all given up?

There are still some, but the forum now seems to have a definite leftist leaning.

There's enough to stop it from being a complete echo chamber

Republican #5 reporting for duty Smiley

We've always been at a bit of a numbers disadvantage around here - but I think the main difference is in #'s of posts.  It seems like Dems are posting more often... especially with all of the pro-Obama stuff.  Any anti-Obama sentiment will be met with dozens of posts telling you what a horrible person you are for believing that the Presidency requires more than mere eloquence.

Another Republican still here though according to one of the wealthy east coast "real" Republicans I should be forced out of the party for being an economic moderate and a social conservative. Tongue

Not as many as there used to be, but still enough. There's also a few Libertarians, a number of independents, and a few people in other parties.

One could put you in with the religious right, albeit a moderate member.

I don't see how one could -MasterJedi doesn't strike me as the type who would 'wear his religion on his sleeve'.

It's about 2 to 1 I'd say.  However, with the exception of about 3 or 4 Dem posters, most Democrats seem to be civil enough so I continue to hang around.  We all share a common bond - we're hopeless political junkies.

Not a lot of Daily Kos, Democratic Underground types.  Some but on the whole, a pretty pleasant group of chaps on both sides of the partisan divide.

What we might need is some sort of Atlas census - we would take it every year and it would be a comprehensive questionaire on partisan ID, ideology, issues, etc... then we would know the answer to this question.  I nominate Al and Alcon to be the census bureau Smiley

I wish there were more republicans or sane democrats now. The Forum has been invaded by the obama cult.

Back in 2004, you wouldn't have noticed the Dem numbers advantage just reading the forum... the only way it became obvious was by looking at the results of ofttaken polls. Things have changed... Grin

Oh come on. Lots of the Democrats who supported Obama on here used to support Edwards, so we are certainly not a cult. We just happen to hate Hillary. lol

First off, I like having GOP posters around.  I'd much rather read a coherent, intelligent, and dead wrong Wink post from Kestone Phil than a nonsensical rant by BRTD.

Secondly, I get the feeling the GOP just ain't that motivated these days.  Reminds me of how I felt in 2002-3.  Hard to talk politics when your party's demoralized and scattered.

Which is why I'm grateful to this day to Howard Dean.  More than anything, he made me proud to be a Democrat again.  The GOP needs a firebreather, not a dessicated fossil they're running.

Well, there's Huckabee and Ron Paul, but neither of them are close enough to unite the majority.  So I'll say it again: look for Bobby Jindal to make the keynote address at the RNC.  If they can't have a Dean, they might as well find an Obama.

agreed. I cringed when I heard he was taking over the DNC, but he's proven himself to be a good strategist and a competent organizer. Plus progressives are now running the party, not the wishy-washy cowardly DLC.
