1882-1901 was pretty good, if limited by corruption.
If you ignore the Alien&Sedition acts, a lot of slaveholders in office, and the Embargo, then 1789-1829 was also pretty good.
1981-1989. Of course, that's only 1 president, but I'd say Reagan deserves his own era.
For "Greatness" (not neccesarily a good thing), you might look at 1933-1963. Of course, the only president from that era which I actually like is Eisanhower...

Worst era?
Well... 1841-1881 was pretty bad, all-in-all. Even the best presidents (like Lincoln) were only okay The 1850s were worst.
1963-1981 was also bleak. Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter. Yeesh.

I say 1789-1861

Presidents 1-15 all had significant faults, but most of these pale in comparison to those of their 20th century brethren.

1933-1965 (since it has to be at most 32 years)

Agreed!

Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison and Monroe.

A first class team.

Some people threw those rules right out the window and created some mega-eras such as 1789-1865 and stuff like that.

1800-1824 is really the only era I can think of.

I agree, back when we had presidents who actually read the constitution.  The democratic republicans were a wonderful party.

Well LBJ was better in 1964 when he got the civil rights and voting act through than later when he esclated Vietnam.

1940-1968, though I'm not sure about Kennedy in there.

Bingo.  Say what will about the WWII vets, but in terms of leadership, this was America's greatest generation (to be followed by America's least generation).

1933 to 1965 -from Franklin D. Roosevelt to the beginning of Lyndon B. Johnson's presidency (from the New Deal to the Great Society and the Civil Rights and Voting Rights acts -before the escalation of the Vietnam War).

1933 to 1967; the longest stretch where the best candidate won (though I would have voted Democratic in '52).

1932-1960 is fairly decent. Even the lone Republican president of the era was fairly decent.

1933-1969.  I would have voted for every one of those candidates.

FDR, Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy.  Would add Johnson, but Vietnam lowers his stock immensely.
