Just a little tally to keep folks up to date, and a special note about New Jersey politics.

In New Jersey, there is this handy little thing the big boys in the backroom use called "the line."  Basically, it's a county-by-county organizational endorsement that leads to preferential ballot position and bracketing with the rest of the incumbents on the ballot.

Without the line, your name tends to get buried somewhere several lines beneath the prefered candidate in the middle of nowhere.  It should be no surprise then, that in 90% of cases, if you have the line, you've already won the primary.

MON FEB 25 — Hunterdon County
SAT MAR 1 — Union County
SAT MAR 29 — Middlesex County
THU APR 3 — Somerset County

State Senator Leonard Lance won Monday's convention battle in Hunterdon (no surprise, he's from Hunterdon).  The Union County endorsement will likely go to.......someone with no shot of winning.  Kate Whitman looks good in Somerset, and there'll be a real battle in Middlesex (Whitman probably needs it).

And an interesting little snippet from PolitickerNJ:
