Not any more hypocritical than it is to defend Barack Obama and support free trade.

Since both are losing endeavors doomed to failure and futility, I wouldn't say that they are hypocritical.

Is Obama a free-trader?

Obama doesn't want to put people in jail for supporting free trade.

Is this like owning pets and giving money to PETA (they hate pets)?  Is Nader anti gambling?  Like the Christian Fundies?  How odd.

Obviously. After all, if you like a politician, how could you possibly do anything that would run contrary to anything in their platform. That would totally be un-RepublicanAmerican!

Obama doesn't want to put people in jail for supporting free trade.

not the correct parallel - Nader doesn't support jailing those who advocate legal gambling, either.

Not for advocating it no, but for doing it.

if Obama actually supported banning free trade he'd likely have illegal traders jailed too.

Well then the analogy is if you're running an enterprise that relies on free trade and can't survive without it, not simply supporting it.
