Ah yes, Thailand! I've been there, although I doubt Bangkok has anything poorer than Dhaka.

Rundown:
US: The Bronx, though it probably isn't nearly as poor as some other places.
Bangladesh: Somewhere in Dhaka.
Thailand: See above comment.
Singapore: Not a poor country.
UK: London didn't look very poor.

Not sure which of the NYC districts I've been through--I've also been through KY-5.

Edit: By household income, NC-1 is also quite poor.

If you've been on I-95 in The Bronx, you've been in NY-16. Also true if you've been to Yankee Stadium or the Bronx Zoo.

In that case, Ladakh: I stayed two nights in a village without electricity or running water.

Dunno if it's the poorest.  But from 1983-1986, I lived three blocks from the old Cabrini Green housing projects in downtown Chicago.  Don't know the district.  I was voting absentee from Ohio then.

Considering I've driven through most of Oklahoma, as well as large swaths of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and northern Florida, a lot of them. Tongue

Probably one of the poor ones in New Orleans.

I drove through all of Mississippi, though.. but that doesn't count.

I got a good laugh when I saw a huge pole holding up two trailer houses about 30 feet in the air next to the highway advertising a trailer dealership.  I felt so deliciously trashy until I realized my town is made famous for statues of a fabled lumberjack and his sidekick blue ox.

I'm not sure. Maybe southern Washington, or one in Virginia. I doubt Hawaii would have poor ones.

I've been in the two with the highest poverty rate (NY-16 and PA-01).

Poorest one I've slept in is WV-01.

And I'm quite certain parts of Thailand were quite poorer than the States too.

The KY CD with Jackson County in it. I deliberately visited there in college, a zillion yeas ago. I was fascinated that the county that was at once the poorest in the nation and the one with the highest percentage of the vote to Nixon in 1960 (what happend to Marxist economic determinism  when you need it?).  It was quite an experience, with certain Deliverance aspects to it (in fact rather a lot of them). When I revisited about 10 years ago, it was all gone. The place had joined the fast food culture, and  the  Deliverance mood was gone. It was just another piece of anyway, rather than there.

Regarding my first visit, I went to the on diner that was open in the county, and sat down next a chap at the counter. I asked him if he knew the county's numero uno status in 1960, and he said that he did. He turned out to be an ex state house representative. Then he launched into a rant against Catholics, and the ugly tentacle they had inserted into the county with a church. Obviously, in a heavily GOP county that the depression has no impact upon, because back then it was not part of the market economy, Kennedy's Catholicism was that extra plus element that pushed the county to the gold

I think I've been to MI-13, although I'm not entirely sure. I've been close to FL-03. I guess I never visit poorer places... I found out that I live in the 25th wealthiest CD...

FL-03 is probably the most obvious gerrymander in the country.
