Vermont  20 (51.3%)
North Carolina    19 (48.7%)

Total Voters: 39

What an incredible match. First look at the votals. 39 votes? Wow. Second, Vermont was absolutely destroying North Carolina early on but NC never gave up and came within one vote of winning. Not a bad way to go out...North Carolina wasn't so weak after all. This also shows that Vermont isn't really THAT powerful. It will probably get plastered by Colorado...or maybe not. So now we have our Final Four - Washington, Montana, Colorado and Vermont. Who would have thought? Washington isn't that surprising I guess but the other three are. From 50 states we are down to just four.

The bracket can be found here

Montana has been a true underdog this contest but I think it's time is finally up. Washington destroyed Montana once already in the Round 1 four way match. Can Montana break 40% or fall by the wayside like the rest of Washington's opponents? Washington probably has a vendetta against Montana after Montana narrowly beat Washington's little brother, Oregon last round.

Montana's pretty, but I can't believe a state with so little civilization stands to make it to the finals...

Washington.

With 14 votes in, it is a dead heat. This is the Final Four folks, no state wants to lose having come this far.

Washington has much to offer: beautiful waterways, islands, deep forests, glaciers, majestic mountains, a culture of courtesy and free-thinking, a diverse population, rivers, apples, Starbucks, Boeing, Microsoft, lakes, the city of Seattle, ferries, the world's longest floating bridge, a fascinating political scene, skiing, hiking, a music scene, wheat, good universities, Costco (the good version of Wal-Mart), trees, trees, desert, Bill Gates, lavender, named after a president, and it is clearly the most amazing state in the country!

Montana: mountains (WA has some too), plains, mines, some trees, rivers (WA has these too), cowboys, a slice of Yellowstone, mountains... not much I can think of...

(plus, you can count on Eco-terrorists to burn down excessive suburban sprawl... Smiley)

Washinton taking the gloves off and starting to pull away. Can Montana cach up or will it plummet into Hell along with the other 46 states? Stay tuned!

^^^^

Montana is beautiful, but it is too rural, even for me. Washington has a lot of cities that are the perfect size for me. Tacoma is a very nice sized city for me. Seattle is a bit too big.

Well, looks like Washington had enough of this shenanigans and went into annihilation mode although Montana is still breaking 40%.
