Sally Kern a Republican State Rep. from Oklahoma city recently stated gays are worse than terrorists and that they were going after two year olds.  Nothing like using Christianity to promote bigotry...

I used to think somewhere like Alabama was the worst state, but Okie's really trying to break into the top tier.

OK I just watched the video and the defense of her is downright hilarious, it's all "she has a right to free speech" which would be relevant if she was going to be arrested and imprisoned for these comments which is not possible and she concludes by saying "What is wrong with I, as an American, exercising my free speech rights?" Way to completely miss the point lady. White supremecists are doing the same thing, that doesn't make their speech non-offensive.

Why do Alabama and Utah even try? Oklahoma has the most backwards state award completely locked up.

Absolutely, she's right. Gays attack us here at home, while terrorists don't get the chance, because we've remained on the "offense" in Iraq, therefore, gays are currently more relevant.

Are you campaigning for the "joke poster of the day" award?

I think she's using bigotry to promote Christianity, or maybe just her church, not the other way round.

I have a hunch Sally is posting on this forum under another name, ostensibly from another state.

She sadly has many that agree with her. I'd wager 5 to 10 percent of the population would applaud her remarks. But I believe a great deal of Christians truly don’t support bigotry based on a person’s sexuality. They may not like homosexuality, but they don’t believe insane stuff like this either.

I know Sally personally.  In fact, her son, Jesse, used to be my music minister in the mid-1990s.  She is an extremely nice, good Christian lady.  I respect her and admire her so much for her witness for her God and her representation of her district in Northwest Oklahoma City.  Being a Democrat, I don't always see eye to eye with her.  In saying that, I have to disagree with her here.  I don't like homosexuality, but in no way are the LGBT folk worse than terrorists, Islamic or otherwise.  Terrorists seek to destroy everything that America and the West stand for, including Christianity, homosexuality, and democracies/republics/constitutional governments.  Most gays that I have talked to, especially one of my very good friends, do not want to destroy America or even destroy Christianity.  True, there are some gays that do want to abolish Biblical principles and amend the Constitution to say something it wasn't intended to say (supporting gay marriage), and which is why I do not support a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage.  The Constitution wasn't created to say ANYTHING about whom one can love.  Yes, that is a big change from my positions just a few months ago.

So, to sum it up, nice lady, good Christian lady, I just do not agree with her on this one.

I'm speechless.  What an idiotic, bigoted thing to say.  And to think 10% of the population actually believes this crap.

Ms Kern meet horsewhip.

*Horsewhip is a lesbian dominatrix.

Seriously it's a close-minded comment based on idiocy and religious bigotry. It's also incredibly irresonsible and could place people's lives in jeopardy.

The really absurd thing about this is that Oklahoma City is one of the few places in the United States to have first hand experience with terrorism. I really hope Okies show this HP the door next time she's up for re-election.
