Burnsville, MN  (Dakota County)

87% white, 13% everything else  (surprisingly more diverse than the state average... considering its exurban/suburban geography.)

The population 1940 was 495

In 1960 it was 2917

In 1980 it was 35,000

In 2000 it was 60,000

The hospital I was born in opened about 2 weeks before I was born and I was one of the first 25 babies to be born in the hospital.

My mom complained of never actually getting to see her OB because the south metro was going through an immense baby boom in the '80s and the doctors couldn't keep up with it.

The house we lived in has since been removed and a new development placed on top of it.  The place is almost completely unrecognizable.. as is my other childhood home town of Monticello which has grown from 2500 when I lived there to over 12,000 in the city limits.

Where Burnsville used to be the edge, Lakeville took that honor during the '80s and '90s and it is filling in fast and now Farmington is the "frontier" of the sprawl, so to speak.

Everywhere in the metro is more diverse than the state average. The few blacks who live in the Twin Cities suburbs is still more than the approximately zero who live anywhere else in the state (excluding a smattering in Rochester, Mankato and St. Cloud)

Well... the demographics have shifted a little since I was born.

Wahroonga, NSW (Nothern Surburb of Sydney) - once a bastion of old money estates - it's still affluent, but more suburban and urbanised in the last 15 years.

- Average age - somewhere around 45

- 68% Private school educated

- 2006 Median house price A$780,000

- 2007 Average household income A$86,000

- Increasing numbers of commuting young professionals

Bay City, Michigan (Bay County)
Population: 36,817 (110,157)
Race:
White: 91.19%
Black: 2.72%
Native American: 0.74%
Asian: 0.53%
Latino: 6.72%

Per Capita Income: $16,550 (38,000)

14.6% Below Poverty Level

Unemployment: 7.7%

The City is one of the few predominantly white cities still dominated by the Democratic Party. It's a very Populist City and likes Social conservatives and economic Liberals. It had experienced a up tick in pop. due to White flight from Saginaw. However, we reached our peak at 40,000 in the late 90's.

We are the birth-place of Madonna.
