In accordance with the Supreme Court, the selection of Colin Wixted as Senator (to fill the vacancy of Sen. Jake) has been officially voided.

Therefore, in accordance with the Proportional Representation Act and Article I, Section 4, Part 5 of the Atlasian Constitution, the Secretary of Forum Affairs hereby calls a special election to be held.

The election shall begin at midnight EDT on Friday, April 11, 2008, and shall conclude exactly 72 hours later.  The filing deadline will be, as administratively feasible, 11:59:59 P.M. EDT on Thursday, April 10, 2008.

PLEASE NOTE: This vote will be held on a nationwide basis in accordance with the PRA, and as such, there is no requirement that candidates nor voters currently hold residence in the area formerly known as District 4.

If there are any questions, I will be glad to clarify them here.

Is there a precedent for delaying the closing of the voting booth due to the site crash earlier today?

I do not believe so.

Personally, I do not think a temporary crash that makes up a small percentage of the voting time necessarily merits an extention of voting period.  Voting will close at 12:03AM as planned.

The polls have closed, and after the votes have been tallied, Lewis Trondheim has been elected after three rounds voting.  He may now take the oath of office and begin his term in the Senate.

A breakdown of the round-by-round vote is here.
