Nice work. Impressive how Democratic Georgia was 20 years ago. Republicans really took over fast, though they've ceded a few of those seats back to the Dems.
Democrats did a pretty terrible job of redistricting Georgia in 1992. The first big mistake was the creation of the overwhelmingly black GA-11(dismantled in 1995) which took heavily black neighborhoods out of the formerly Democratic held GA-01, GA-04, and GA-10 costing Democrats both the GA-01 and GA-04 in 1992 and later GA-10 in 1994. The second big mistake was trying to combine Newt Gingrich's old GA-06 with Democrat Richard Ray's GA-03. This ended up giving Ray a much more heavily Republican district that he would have never been able to win against anyone but the polarizing and underperforming Gingrich. Of course, Gingrich moved to the new, even more heavily Republican GA-06 north of Atlanta, while Ray was forced to run in an uphill race against Republican St. Sen. Mac Collins. Ray lost handily. So Democrats lost GA-01, GA-03, GA-04, and GA-10 because of their own stupidity in redistricting.
