This is another one where anyone can participate.

Dwight Eisenhower runs for the Democratic nomination and wins. He chooses Governor Adlai Stevenson of Illinois as his running mate. On the Republican side, Governor Earl Warren of California gets the nod. He selects noted anti-Communist Senator Joseph McCarthy of Wisconsin as his vice-presidential nominee.

Let's get this TL started!

Dwight Eisenhower-Adlai Stevenson (D) 58% PV, 420 EV
Earl Warren-Joseph McCarthy (R) 41% PV, 111 EV

Warren's selection of McCarthy would hurt him with the party's liberal/moderate wing. In OTL, Senator Wayne Morse changed his registration to Independent and endorsed Stevenson. In this TL, Morse would most likely endorse Eisenhower rather than stomach McCarthy being a heartbeat from the presidency.

The Republican ticket is strongest in the interior West and upper New England. The Democrats sweep the South and win every midwestern state except Indiana and Wisconsin.

It looks like McCarthy will return to his home in Appleton, Wisconsin and hit the bottle.

The 1952 election proves to be a mixed bag for the Democratic party. Though they maintain the White House in a landslide, they lose control of both houses of Congress. The biggest upset of the night is the defeat of John F. Kennedy in Massachusetts. Henry Cabot Lodge is able to retain his seat by less then 3000 votes. Kennedy however,  appears to still have a promising future ahead of him, and few believe this will be the last run he makes for public office. The young and charming Kennedy is already being courted to run against senator Leverett Saltonstall in 1954 when he comes up for reelection.

Empowered by their victory, Speaker of the house Joseph  W. Martin and Majority leader Robert Taft pledge to work with Eisenhower. Taft himself receives a major health scare when it was found he has cancer during a routine checkup, but the cancer is caught before it spreads and he receives a clean bill of health and is able to take up his post as majority leader on time.
