So, in other words, he might win by 10 points for the first time ever.

Yes! Against a gold-star challenger like Andy Unanue, he should win by 15 points or more. Pretty amazing.

Meanwhile, former Democratic State Chairman Tom Byrne is polling the state about a possible primary challenge to Frankie.
Tom Byrne is irrelevant and any former political reporter would know he'd have no chance.

I don't recall saying anything about him having a chance, do you?

Quite unlikely.  It's hard to envision Unanue doing significantly worse than Doug Forrester.  Or (ugh) Pete Dawkins.

Have some dignity, man. Senator Lautenberg is going to be reelected by probably the widest margin he's had ever.

So, in other words, he might win by 10 points for the first time ever.

Who knows? The splitting of the presidential and other primaries for the first time will probably result in record low turnout for the second set of primaries, meaning all sorts of odd results are possible.

For what reason would you mention him, because he is so irrelevant, than to make a suggestion that he'd matter in anyway?

Sorry, I'll refrain from talking about politics from now on.

And people ask why there has been an exodus away from here.

He made his announcement from a ski resort in Colorado...

Take off points for that if you will, but considering that Sen. Lautenberg has been living in New York City for years now...
PoliticsNJ says Unanue owns a home in Alpine...tax search shows only his parents do. It's possible he doesnt even own a home in NJ.
This has now been confirmed by politicsnj.com

Probably shouldn't have confessed to that.  If he does indeed live in New York, that would be against the law, or at least it was when I lived there.

The Lautenberg people really push the Unanue-doesn't-live-in-Jersey line with a straight face?  Really?

First off, while Lautenberg supporters may have pushed this, there is no hint of it. Second, Lautenberg owns a home in NJ, even though he may like to live in his wife's NYC apartment. Lautenberg can get away with pushing that even if he made the argument himself because no one named Andrew Unanue owns a home in NJ.

Let's see:  Lautenberg believes being old disqualifies one to serve, and living in New York disqualifies one to serve.  What's next, majoring in Economics?

Well, living in New York does disqualify you according to the US constitution IIRC...

Not owning a home in the state you live in, though, doesn't disqualify anybody from anything.

I am sure it does according to the New Jersey Supreme Court.  Thank you, Christie Todd Whitman!
